The outcomes from the last two Hauraki Trade Seminars clearly indicated that for Hauraki’s Building Industry to get through the new Building Act and be sustained for the long term, then a Building Industry Group (BIG) needed to be established. For Hauraki’s building industry to establish a ‘BIG’ the industry needs to be the custodians of the group and decide how it is going to be established, what it is going to look like and what it is going to do.

What Will a Hauraki Building Industry
Representative Do?
An industry representative will represent the interests of the trade they
represent, for example plumbing, carpentry, retail, design etc. They will be the
person on the BIG who will work with their trades to address issues as they
arise. They are primarily the people who will help protect and represent your
interests.
What Are The Requirements of a Big
Representative?
The BIG will be comprised of a team of about 10 - 12 members who will represent all of the building elements, including builders, drainlayers, designers, wholesalers/ retailers etc. Council can provide all administrative support and meet costs, so a building industry representative needs to bring to the table:
How Do I Nominate a BIG Representative to
Represent My Industry?
The Council is currently calling for nominations for the BIG Hauraki. Once
Council has received at least 12 nominations, Council will arrange a meeting for
the nominees and other people interested in the BIG to come together and decide
what it is going to look like and how it will operate. If you want to nominate a
member for the BIG please fill out the online form below or print, complete and
return the attached Nomination Form
