Rates Explained
Council in setting rates follows the results of the
Revenue and Financing Policy that is contained in the Long Term Council
Community Plan. View the
policies.
Activities can have different funding mechanisms. It is also possible to
have many different forms of rates applied where rate funding is
considered necessary. Check the Revenue and Financing Policy and the
Rating Policy for details, see the Rates Policy side bar menu option.
Some rates are value based but many are set on a uniform or area basis.
Council uses both Land Value and Capital Value for setting value based
rates.
Council has used Capital value for many years.
We provide many different payment options. Council is very flexible in
how it receives the rates payments. See the payment options above (How
can I pay my Rates?).
Perhaps you may be eligible for a $570 rebate of your rates. Strict
eligibility criteria apply. Read more about
Rates Rebates.
Follow the links on the right-hand side menu to check other areas
