RECOMMENDATION

THAT the Chief Executive’s monthly report be received

AND THAT leave of absence be granted to Councillor Sel Baker for the period 4 June to 27 June 2006

AND THAT Council approve funding of $57,000 for the Stage 2 hazard assessment of the abandoned underground mine workings in Waihi

8. NETWORK SERVICES

8.1 ROADING MANAGERS REPORT (01.001.029)(104KB) 33-52

The Roading Manager has reported on roading matters for the month of May 2006. The report is attached for the members’ information.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received.

HDC 292: HDC Area Wide Treatments and Safety Improvements 2004/2005

RECOMMENDATION

THAT due to the delays in the Water Main installation contract the Wharepoa Rd Area Wide Pavement Treatment will need to be deferred until the next financial year

AND THAT the 2005/06 budget will be underspent by approximately $300,000

AND THAT the funding will be resubmitted in the Councils 2006/07 Land Transport Programme.

NON-SUBSIDISED ROADING PROJECTS : Seal Extension Projects 2005/06

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the subsidised seal extension project for Willows Rd be deferred until the 2007/08 financial year

AND THAT the budget be reduced accordingly.

April 2006 Storm Event

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the Emergency works funds estimated at $270,000 be made available within the Subsidised Roading budget for Council’s share of the cost of reinstating the damage caused by the storm event of 28 April.

2005/06 Bridge Improvements

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the Coxhead Rd and Waitawheta Rd bridge works be deferred to the 2006/07 financial year

AND THAT the budget allocations be amended as shown.

Stock Underpass Subsidy Application

RECOMMENDATION

This report recommends that providing the applicant is able to satisfy Councils consent conditions:

1. Approved building consent

2. That the engineering plans and conditions are to the satisfaction of the District Engineer.

AND THAT the grant of $10,000 be approved.

Attached is a report from the Community Liaison Officer regarding the establishment of an apprenticeship scheme within the Hauraki District.

THAT Council support the establishment of an apprenticeship scheme within the Hauraki District subject to a submission and approval of a financing plan.

12. GENERAL BUSINESS

12.1 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT QUARTERLY REPORT TO MARCH 2006 (06.502.999) (38KB) 85-87

Attached is Economic Development Officer’s quarterly report to March 2006.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received.

12.2 NORTH VIEW ESTATE REQUEST FOR FUNDING 88-94

At the Council meeting held on the 27 of April a presentation was given to Council by representatives of North view Estates Ltd of their subdivision development in Rata Lane, Paeroa.  Details presented by the Group are included with the agenda.

The Council resolved:

THAT staff investigate funding options and research the benefits available to the community for Council to make a contribution to the stormwater drainage 

AND THAT the members support the concept of funding the stormwater drainage in principle

A report on the funding options and benefits available to the Community for Council to make a contribution to the stormwater drainage will be circulated prior to the meeting.
