Attached separately was a booklet outlining the submission process and a copy of the summary of all submissions received on the Draft Annual Plan was also available.

Members agreed to support the Hauraki Games in principle. It was requested that a member of Council or staff member be represented on the Hauraki Games Committee. Cr Milner was appointed as Council Representative.
It was suggested they apply to the Contestable Social Fund for funding assistance.

Hauraki Domestic Violence Intervention Network (HDVIN) - Joanna Fictoor and Sally Christie – Submission Ref: # 275286
Submitter outlined the role of (HDVIN). The organisation works as an umbrella with other organisations like Child & Youth, CAPs Hauraki and the Police as part of a network in addressing family violence.
Submitter supports the Draft Positive Ageing Strategy and requests that Council adopts some of the actions of the Governments Positive Ageing Strategy 2001 into Hauraki District Council’s Draft Positive Ageing Strategy which to benefit the older population of Hauraki.
Submitter commended Council on the establishment of the Social Contestable Fund initiative and valued Councils contribution to their organisation.

Submitter thanked Council for their past support of the organisation and requested ongoing support of funding. Submitter provided statistics of their rescue activities at Whiritoa Beach.

Whiritoa Liaison Association - Gerald Davis – Submission Ref: # 274174
Submitter requests that the beach not be included as a dog exercise area and that more regulation of the control of dogs be initiated, i.e. signage, fines. Submitter requests that a designated area be used for dog exercise. Requested that dogs also be restricted from using the beach to protect nesting Dotterills.

Susan Champion
Submitter requests that a dog exercise area be established at Whiritoa. Submitter did not agree that the areas suggested by the Whiritoa Liaison Committee were suitable. Submitter suggested that over the Winter period the Whiritoa Beach is very quiet and owners could unleash their dogs to run, but during Summer months when the beach is more populated, dog owners need to have their dogs leashed. Submitter suggested that adequate signage needs to be displayed alongside walkways and the beach with the rules and regulations stipulated in the Dog Control Bylaw to remove any confusion.

Submitter requests support to allow the Whiritoa Beach to remain as a designated dog exercise area. Submitter is not in favour of any dog exercise areas that would be too small. The submitter suggest that from 26 December to 15 February at the Whiritoa Beach that dogs should be allowed to be exercised between the hours of 7pm and 9am off lead. For the rest of the year dogs should be allowed to be exercised on the beach any time.

Mrs Theodora Hallam spoke in support of Sylvia Francis’ submission with regards to the establishment of a heated public swimming pool but separate to the Waihi College Pool.

The improved pavement surfaces have allowed older people to use them without incident. Submitter suggests involving business people with the hope of getting their concepts into the LTCCP planning process early in the development of the plan.
