GENERAL ELECTION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE FIRST MEETING OF THE SEVENTH HAURAKI DISTRICT COUNCIL WILL BE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON WEDNESDAY 31 OCTOBER 2007 COMMENCING AT 9.00 AM

Declarations by members are to be carried out in accordance with Schedule 7 Section 14 of the Local Government Act 2002 as follows:

MAYOR ASSUMES THE CHAIR

The meeting will adjourn following the making and attesting of declarations for morning tea with invited guests.

4. LATE ITEMS

Pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the Chairman is to call for late items to be accepted.

In the event of a late item, an explanation must be given as to why the item was not on the agenda and why discussion cannot be delayed for a subsequent meeting.

5. EXPLANATION OF SPECIFIC ACTS 1-16

In accordance with Schedule 7 Section 21(5c) of the Local Government Act 2002 the Chief Executive will give a general explanation of the following Acts:

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the information be received.

6. ELECTION OF DEPUTY MAYOR

The Council is to elect a Deputy Mayor in accordance with the provisions of Schedule 7 Section 17 of the Local Government Act 2002.

7. FIRST MEETINGS OF THE COUNCIL

The date and time of the first meeting of the newly elected Hauraki District Council needs to be fixed.

As the Committee structure is yet to be discussed, the following interim meetings are suggested.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT an Extraordinary Meeting of the Council be held on Wednesday 14 November 2007 commencing at 9.00am for the purpose of adopting Standing Orders, appointing committees and other general business

AND THAT the first Ordinary Meeting of the Council be held on Wednesday 28 November 2007 commencing at 9.00 am.

8.1 ANNUAL REPORT 2006/07 (01.710.003)  (19KB) 17

As required by Section 98 of the Local Government Act, 2002, Council must have adopted the Annual Report for the 2006/07 year by 31st October 2007.

As at the writing of this report, staff were in the process of the liaising stages with Audit. Consequently, the audited Annual Report 2006/07 is expected to be distributed to Elected Members prior to this Council Meeting.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the draft report be received and approved subject to any changes required by Audit NZ

AND THAT pursuant to Section 98 of the Local Government Act, 2002, the Audited Annual Report for the year ending 30 June, 2007 be adopted

AND THAT the Audited Annual Report Summary be adopted and approved for circulation.
