NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT A MEETING OF THE HAURAKI DISTRICT COUNCIL WILL BE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON WEDNESDAY 16 APRIL 2008 COMMENCING AT 9.00 AM
Morning tea will be available at 10.15 am.
| PRESENTATIONS: 11.00 - 11.30am - Environment Waikato Mr Harry Wilson (CEO) and Crs Friar and Buckley of Environment Waikato will be in attendance to present the Draft Annual Plan 2008/09. A copy of the Annual Plan is enclosed separately. 1.00 - 1.45pm - Department of Conservation Representatives from DOC will be in attendance to present the Bay of Plenty Conservation Management Strategy 2008-18. A copy of the strategy is enclosed separately. |

5.1 Thames Coromandel/Hauraki Primary Health lLocal Management Group Representation (396772) Cr Leonard

Waikato Primary Health is a Primary Health Organisation that delivers and co-ordinates primary health services. The Primary Health Organisation receives a set amount of funding from the government to subsidise a range of health services based on the numbers and characteristics (e.g. age, ethnicity etc) of people enrolled with them.
The purpose of the Local Management Group (of which is not a Council Organisation) is to decide on what is the most appropriate method of distribution of the funds provided to our local community.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the report be received
AND THAT it be approved that Cr Leonard represents the Hauraki District Council on the Waikato Primary Health Local Management Group.
5.2 CLIMATE CHANGE – A DISCUSSION PAPER (398543) Cr Carmine
Katy Carpenter, Policy Analyst, has been researching the issues of climate change for New Zealand and specifically to identify any issues for Hauraki. This research is a response to the upcoming LTCCP work, best practise techniques and the District plan Review. It is also timely due to central government increasingly looking toward making New Zealand as energy efficient and sustainable as possible due to its developing policy stances and Kyoto Protocol commitments.

13-165.3 BAY OF PLENTY CONSERVATION MANAGEMENT STRATEGY - 2008-18 (399717)

Attached is a report on the Bay of Plenty Conservation Management Strategy 2008-18. Distributed with this agenda is a copy of the Bay of Plenty Conservancy Draft Conservation Management Strategy 2008-18.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the report be received.
Staff members of the Conservancy will be present at the Council Meeting at 1.00pm to give a presentation on the Draft Strategy and to have discussions with Council.
Following the presentation by the Department of Conservation a workshop will be undertaken to assess whether Council wishes to prepare a submission to the strategy, and if so, the particular matters that the Council would like to see included.
