NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT A MEETING OF THE HAURAKI DISTRICT COUNCIL WILL BE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON WEDNESDAY 15 OCTOBER 2008 COMMENCING AT 9.00 AM

Morning tea will be available at 10.15 am.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Hauraki District Council held on Wednesday 24 September 2008 be taken as read and confirmed.

5. PLANNING/REGULATORY SERVICES (437725) (74KB) 10-22

5.1 The Planning and Environmental Services Monitoring Report for the month of September 2008 is attached for the member’s consideration.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received.

5.2 REVIEW OF SIGNIFICANCE POLICY (429634 & 438572) (77KB) 23-36

Attached is a report from the Strategic Planning Projects Manager regarding the 2009 Significance Policy review.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received

AND THAT the Draft Significance Policy as amended be adopted for inclusion into the Draft Long Term Council Community Plan 2009 -19.

5.3 Updated Council workshop and meeting timetable (438837) (32KB) 37-40

For the member’s information, the Strategic Planning Projects Manager has attached an updated timetable of Council workshops and meetings towards the development of the Draft LTCCP 2009-19.

6. NETWORK SERVICES

6.1 ROADING MANAGER’S REPORT (CR MEYERS) (438971 & 439067) (46KB) 41-47

The Roading Manager has reported on roading matters for the month of September 2008. The report is attached for the members’ information.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received.

Network Control Management: Safety Management

The installation of ‘No Stopping’ lines on the Toomey Street and at Norwood Road/Ohinemuri Place intersections have been programmed. This installation is to correct/improve intersection visibility and ease congestion caused by parked vehicles as shown in attachment.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT approval be given to the installation of the ‘No Stopping’ lines at the intersections as detailed.

6.2 UTILITIES MANAGER’S REPORT (CRS CHALLIS & HARRIS) (437190)(117KB) 48-63

The Utilities Manager has reported on district utilities for the month of September 2008. The report is attached for the members’ information.

WHIRITOA – NOXIOUS WEED

Woolly Nightshade has developed extensively in the coppice block at the Whiritoa treatment plant. The Construction and Maintenance Business Unit have proposed a clearing programme, for which they have quoted the sum of $6,900 excluding GST to clear the site.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT Council approve the clearing of Woolly Nightshade from the Whiritoa Coppice block for the sum of $6,900 excluding GST.

6.3 DRAINAGE MANAGER’S REPORT (439066) (30KB) 64-67

The Drainage Manager has reported on district drainage matters for the month of September 2008. The report is attached for the members’ information.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received.

7. GENERAL BUSINESS

7.1 WAIHI HAZARD ASSESSMENT presentation of updated report (439107)(41KB) 68-70

Attached is a report from the Chief Executive regarding the Waihi Hazard assessment carried out by the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (IGNS). Mr Dick Beetham from IGNS will be attending to present the findings of the assessment.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received.
