RESOLVED
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Eastern Plains Drainage District Committee held on Tuesday 4 December 2001 be taken as read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
Capital Works General (45.498.999)
Turua Stormwater
The Drainage Manager had contacted the Turua Domain Committee and would meet with them to discuss what could be done with the open drain along Raupoiti Street in front of the Tennis Courts and the Kindergarten.
The monthly report from the Drainage Manager was attached for the Committee’s consideration
RESOLVED
THAT the report be received.
02/04 Speedy/Darrah CARRIED
Pump Operation (45.496.999)
A summary of pump hour’s operation for the current year to date was attached.
Capital Works
The Drainage Manager advised that a retaining wall had been installed across one section at Huirau Road.
The costs should be known by the next meeting.
General
2002-2003 Estimates
The Drainage Manager advised that the staff management team was currently reviewing estimates for the next financial year.
Members discussed likely changes that may occur in the estimates for the coming financial year.
It was important for members to keep an eye on the maintenance levels in their areas.
WVS-PRS Liaison Subcommittee
The Drainage Manager advised that Environment Waikato had invited nominees for the above committee by 8 February 2002. EPDD had one representative. The committee would hold its first meeting for 2002 on Friday 24 May, with a familiarisation/inspection tour scheduled for Friday 22 February.
RESOLVED
THAT GW Speedy be the representative for EPDD on the WVS-PRS Liaison Subcommittee.
02/05 Martin/Caddy CARRIED
Hull – Huirau Road
Concerns had been raised by Rhett Hull on Huirau Road, Turua regarding the amount of water that lies on his property after moderate rainfall events.
A discussion was held on a possible solution to the problem.
RESOLVED
THAT the Chairman, Drainage Manager and Mr Speedy visit Mr Hull and discuss options.
02/06 Speedy/Troughton CARRIED
Rainfall (45.489.999)
A plot of the Ngatea Monthly Rainfall depths for the last 8 years was attached. The rainfall total for November was 114mm, and for December 177mm.
FINANCIAL REPORT (45.498.003)
The financial report to 30 November 2001 was attached for members’ information.
RESOLVED
THAT the financial report on the operations of the Eastern Plains Drainage Committee for the 5 months to 30 November 2001 be received.

GENERAL BUSINESS
MEMBERS’ COMMENTS
The Members were invited to comment on any general drainage issues of interest in their areas.
Mr Reid attended the meeting at 11.20 am.
There was concern that the cleaning of the drains may commence too early. This would be discussed further with the Drainage Overseer.
There was concern that there were a number of floodgates that belonged to Environment Waikato that were not working.

Drainage Elections
The Drainage Manager advised that the next drainage elections would be held during February 2002. Nominations would close on 22nd February.
The meeting closed at 11.30 am.
