THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Eastern Plains Drainage District Committee held on Tuesday 25 October 2005 be taken as read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
Netherton School Culvert
The Netherton School has been given permission from the Education Ministry to contribute to half the cost of the repair to the School Road culvert. The Drainage Overseer will arrange the works.

The monthly report from the Drainage Manager was presented for the Committee’s consideration.

THAT the report be received.

Kaikahu Road North Open Drain Piping
A resident in Kaikahu Road North has requested that the Committee consider piping a section of open drain through his property. It is the downstream end of a communal drain serving several properties and some runoff from the Kerepehi Town Road area.
RESOLVED
THAT the Committee approve the piping of approximately 33m of open drain in Kaikahu Road North at an estimated cost of $6,000
AND THAT the resident requesting the piping contribute to 25% of the cost.

FINANCIAL REPORT (45.498.003)
The financial report for the 5 months ended 30 November 2005 was presented for members’ information.

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Eastern Plains Drainage Committee for the 5 months ended 30 November 2005 be received.

GENERAL BUSINESS
MEMBERS’ COMMENTS
Roger Hunter commented that his neighbours were concerned about the alligator weed reportedly growing in the Orongo area. They had been approached by EW about the weed but have not heard back. Drains in the vicinity have an unusual amount of weed growth this year.
All members commented on the amount of underwater weed growth evident.
Turua School
The Turua School intend to extend their car parking along Raratuna Street, and wish to know the Committee’s programme of piping open drains. The Committee will consult with all parties, including the hall committee and the Roading Manager, on the matter.
G Speedy commented on the minutes from the Environment Waikato Waihou Piako Liaison Committee.
The meeting closed at 11.10 am.
