THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Eastern Plains Drainage District Committee held on Tuesday 23 August 2005 be taken as read and confirmed.

The monthly report from the Drainage Manager was presented for the Committee’s consideration.
RESOLVED
THAT the report be received.

Netherton School Culvert
The Drainage Manager outlined the history of the issue. The Eastern Plains District Drainage Committee was in agreement with a cost share arrangement. The Drainage Manager suggested that the School’s contribution could be by way of labour and requested the Committee members to consider this offer as a contribution to the work required.
It was advised that the culvert is the responsibility of the School. Maintenance to improve the flow through the bridge section of the culvert is estimated at $2,500.00.
RESOLVED
THAT Council offer the Netherton School a cost sharing arrangement for the works to repair the School Road culvert on the basis that maintenance costs will be reduced as a result of the repairs
AND THAT the school contribute a 50% share towards the repair of the School Road culvert.

The financial report for the 3 months ended 30 September 2005 was presented for the members’ information.

THAT the financial report of the Eastern Plains Drainage Committee for the 3 months ended 30 September 2005 be received.

Rainfall Charts
It was requested that an alteration be made to the rainfall charts to show a daily record of rainfall for each month.
GENERAL BUSINESS
MEMBERS’ COMMENTS
The members all commented that there is a significant weed growth in the district drains due to the good weather and requested that areas in need of spraying be dealt with.
Kim Reid stated that the weed growth in H Drain needs addressing. He also raised an issue of the Awaiti Roadside drain north of the Netherton school, and the reach south of the Awaiti Road intersection requires cleaning.
The meeting closed at 11.00am.
