RESOLVED

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Eastern Plains Drainage District Committee held on Wednesday 24 April 2007 be taken as read and confirmed.

Access for Spraying in Properties with Crops Planted

It was advised that the newspaper article on ‘keeping drains clear’ has been published in the Hauraki Herald.

Chris Hale (Environment Waikato - Noxious Weeds Contractor) spoke to the meeting on the infestation of Alligator Weed and presented a Powerpoint presentation on the subject.

DRAINAGE REPORT (45.498.002)

The monthly report from the Drainage Manager  was presented for the Committee’s consideration.

RESOLVED

THAT the report be received.

EPDD07/10 Speedy/Conroy CARRIED

A request has been made to consider some works on the drain on the south boundary of the school. The drain is a possible hazard, and a mosquito breeding ground. An estimate for the piping of approximately 25m of open drain with 300mm pipe $6,500.

RESOLVED

THAT 25m of open drain in the Kerepehi School, adjacent to the end of Stanley Street, be piped with 300mm concrete pipe at an estimated cost of $6,500.

The financial report for the 11 months ended 31 May 2007 was presented for the Committee’s information.

RESOLVED

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Eastern Plains Drainage Committee for the 11 months ended 31 May 2007 be received.

MEMBERS’ COMMENTS

The Members were invited to comment on any general drainage issues of interest in their areas.

Roger Hunter - Good strike on drain spraying.

The Drainage Manager advised that the next meeting of the Committee will be held in the Ngatea office on Wednesday 29 August 2007.

The meeting closed at 2.30pm.
