MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE EASTERN PLAINS DRAINAGE DISTRICT COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON TUESDAY 26 FEBRUARY 2008 COMMENCING AT 1.30PM

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

MEETING HELD THURSDAY 20 DECEMBER 2007

RESOLVED

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Eastern Plains Drainage District Committee held on Thursday 20th December 2007 be taken as read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

Turua School Drainage

At the December 2007 meeting a letter was received by the Committee from the Turua School Committee regarding a problem with drainage on the southern boundary of the school. The Chairman, local member and Drainage Overseer met with school representatives on site. Works to alleviate the issue have been undertaken.

THAT the works be confirmed.

DRAINAGE REPORT

The monthly report from the Drainage Manager was presented for the Committee’s consideration.

Drainage Committee Elections

The Drainage Manager advised that a meeting with Council’s Returning Officer has been arranged with a view to conducting the elections in late March-early April.

Environment Waikato River and Catchment Schemes Liaison Subcommittees

The Drainage Manager advised the make up of the EW River and Catchment Schemes Sub-committees.

A workshop will be held on Friday 4th April 2008 commencing at 9.30am for EW to present to the District Drainage Committees and Council on the funding review being undertaken. An agenda for this workshop will be sent out shortly.

There was no financial report available.

 

GENERAL BUSINESS

MEMBERS’ COMMENTS

The Members were invited to comment on any general drainage issues of interest in their areas.

Roger Hunter – Raised concern re the lack of drainage outlet availability due to low lying land not getting the full advantage of low tide.

Kim Reid – Culverts in ‘H’ Drain. Drainage Manager advised that investigations are on-going.

 

The meeting closed at 2.15pm.
