MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE KOMATA NORTH DRAINAGE DISTRICT COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON FRIDAY 30 APRIL 1999 COMMENCING AT 10.10 AM

 

PRESENT Messrs H G Morrison (Chairman), G Vowles and R Robinson
IN ATTENDANCE Mr I McLeod (Drainage Manager), Mr L Cavers (Project and Solid Waste Manager), Mr S L Clark (Drainage Overseer) and Mrs R Johnson (Council Secretary)

Mr McLeod (Drainage Manager) called the meeting to order and asked for any apologies.

APOLOGIES

There were no apologies.

ELECTION

ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN

The Drainage Manager called for nominations for the position of Chairman.

RESOLVED

THAT Mr H G Morrison be nominated as Chairman of the Komata North Drainage District Committee.

There being no further nominations, Mr H G Morrison was declared Chairman.

LATE ITEMS

Pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the Chairman called for late items to be accepted.

There were no late items.

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

MEETING HELD 8 DECEMBER 1998

RESOLVED

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Komata Drainage District Committee held on 8 December 1998 be taken as read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

Alexander’s Canal Pine Trees

Mr Clark had inspected the pine trees that had been planted along Alexander’s Canal. A letter had been sent to the landowner advising that the trees be removed.

Mr McLeod would look into this issue.

Fencing of Drain - Kaimanawa Road

Concern was noted at the lack of fencing on Kaimanawa Roadside drain down Ferry Road.

DRAINAGE REPORT (45.698.999)

The report from the Drainage Manager was attached for the Committee’s consideration

RESOLVED

THAT the report be received

Spraying

Mr McLeod presented a table of the drains sprayed for the 1998/99 year.

Mr Clark advised that spraying was continuing subject to weather conditions.

Member’s advised Mr Clark of a number of drains that would require re-spraying.

Mechanical Cleaning

There had been no mechanical cleaning carried out during the period.

FINANCIAL REPORT

The financial reports for the 9 months ended 31 March 1999 were attached for members’ information.

RESOLVED

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Komata North Drainage District Committee for the 9 months ended 31 March 1999 be received.

Mr Cavers outlined the financial report for the benefit of the new member’s.

The meeting closed at 10.45 am.
