ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON
Following the call for nominations for drainage district committee members, the following had been received for the Komata North committee: Messrs G Morrison, G Vowles, R Robinson and S Hughes. The Council representative is Cr B Dunn.
The Drainage Manager called for nominations for the position of Chairperson.
RESOLVED
THAT HG Morrison be nominated as Chairperson of the Komata North Drainage District Committee.

There being no further nominations, Mr Morrison was declared Chairperson.
LATE ITEMS
Pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the Chairman called for late items to be accepted. There were none.
CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
RESOLVED
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Komata North Drainage District Committee held on 11 December 2001 be taken as read and confirmed.

The report from the Drainage Manager was attached for the Committee’s consideration

Spraying
Tables of the drains sprayed to date were presented.
Pump Operation
A summary of the pump hour’s operation for the current year was presented.
The Drainage Manager advised that Environment Waikato had installed telemetry control for the Alexander’s Pump and were proposing to install a diesel generated pump this financial year.
ESTIMATES 2002/2003
The Committee was to consider the 2002/2003 estimates. The estimates were attached.
The Drainage Manager advised that the estimates were unchanged from the draft estimates discussed at the December 2001 meeting.
Clarification would be sought regarding ownership of the floodgates on the Komata North Outfall.
Overall a rate increase of 10 percent had been imposed for the 2002/2003 year.
The Drainage Manager would look into the matter of compensation for loss of grazing when the stopbanks on the Alexander Canal were topped up.

FINANCIAL REPORT
The financial report to the 28 February 2002 is attached for members’ information.
RESOLVED
THAT the financial report on the operations of the Komata North Drainage District Committee for the 8 months ended 28 February 2002 be received.

GENERAL BUSINESS
LAND DRAINAGE ASSET MANAGEMENT PLAN
A copy of the plan was included with the agenda for member’s consideration.
The Drainage Manager tabled a report outlining the plan and its requirement.
RESOLVED
THAT the Land Drainage Asset Management Plan be approved.

Members Comments
It was noted that the Kurere drain was in need of cleaning in about the mid section, and the road end had a lot of privet, barberry and willows. The Drainage Manager and the Drainage Overseer would look at the site with Mr Vowles.
