Trees adjacent to the Kuaoiti Stream SH 26

A request has been received from the adjacent owner to assist with the removal of several large poplars overhanging the stream, and many smaller trees within the boundary of the stream. Discussions with the owners have been held. Owners and neighbours have indicated a willingness to clear the larger limbs by cutting up for firewood. One has offered a contribution to the cost of the works. It may be that the trees are not altogether the responsibility of the Committee, until they fall into or over the stream, when all costs of removal will fall on the Committee.

The Drainage Overseer is preparing an estimate of the works, which will be tabled at the meeting.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the Committee consider the offer of a contribution by way of cash and labour to the cost of removing the trees adjacent to the Kuaoiti Stream on SH 26, and determine the amount of financial involvement due to the Committee.
