ENVIRONMENT WAIKATO
Representatives from Environment Waikato, Mr Owen Passau (Project Manager Waihou/Piako), Kevin Campbell (Works Supervisor), Murray Mulholland (Technical Services Manager) and Roger Loveless (Odyssey Energy) attended the meeting to discuss the operation of the Mill Road pump station.
Pump Operation
SCADA systems
Diesel power options
Probe Levels
There was discussion on the reliability of the pump starting systems, the progress on diesel power generation options, the telemetry of pump operating data, and the review of pump start probe levels.
Environment Waikato are proposing to provide diesel generated power to five of the large pumps, with Mill Road site being identified as a priority. It is likely that the No 2 station will be diesel powered, with the No 1 station being left on mains power, under a ’Time of Use’ control. The installation of the SCADA system will allow real time monitoring of a number of parameters to enable pumping decisions to be made. The optimised solution, utilising diesel and mains power will provide full availability of the No 2 station, with controlled use of the No 1 station, and the option of being able to override the controls, possibility at a cost, if necessary.
Recent survey has confirmed that lowering ground levels will require the review of the probe control levels for all pumps at the site.
The group left the meeting at 2.00 pm.
