MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE TIROHIA-ROTOKOHU DRAINAGE DISTRICT COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON 26 MARCH 2002 COMMENCING AT 1.30 PM

ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON

The Drainage Manager called for nominations for the position of Chairperson.

RESOLVED

THAT MJ Peters be nominated as Chairperson of the Tirohia Rotokohu Drainage District Committee.

There being no further nominations, Mr Peters was declared Chairperson.

ELECTION OF DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON

The Chairperson called for nominations for the position of Deputy Chairperson.

RESOLVED

THAT RD Brown be nominated as Deputy Chairperson of the Tirohia Rotokohu Drainage District Committee.

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

MEETING HELD 10 DECEMBER 2001

The minutes of the meeting of the Tirohia-Rotokohu Drainage District Committee held on 10 December 2001 were attached.

RESOLVED

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Tirohia-Rotokohu Drainage District Committee held on 10 December 2001 be taken as read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

The Drainage Manager advised that Mr G Morrison, Chairman of the Komata North Drainage District Committee had agreed to remain as the Eastern Waihou Drainage Districts’ representative on the Environment Waikato River Schemes Liaison Committee.

As a result of the nominations for election to the committee, five candidates were notified by the closing time. One further form had been received in the office but not delivered to the Election Officer until some days later. The Works Committee confirmed the appointment of all six nominees to the Committee.

The Drainage Manager’s report was attached for the Committee’s consideration

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Tirohia Rotokohu Drainage District Committee for the 8 months to 28 February 2002 be received.

GENERAL BUSINESS

ESTIMATES 2002/2003

Attached for the Committees consideration were the draft estimates for the 2002/2003 financial year.

RESOLVED

THAT the estimates as presented be approved.

LAND DRAINAGE ASSET MANAGEMENT PLAN

A copy of the plan was included with the agenda for member’s consideration.

RESOLVED

THAT the Land Drainage Asset Management Plan be adopted.

LATE ITEMS

John Hill – Retirement from Committee

It was noted that Mr Hill had served on the Tirohia-Rotokohu District Drainage Committee for 42 years. Members agreed that some type of function should be held for him in recognition of his many years of service to the area.

The Drainage Manager advised that the Council would also be holding a function to recognise the years of service given by those members who had recently retired from all the drainage committee’s in the district.

The meeting closed at 2.45 pm.
