The item was not on the agenda because the information was unavailable at the agenda deadline.

Discussion on the item could not be delayed because the item needed the attention of the members before the next meeting.

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

MEETING HELD MONDAY 21 FEBRUARY 2005

The minutes of the meeting of the Tirohia-Rotokohu Drainage District Committee held on Monday 21 February 2005 were presented.

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Tirohia-Rotokohu Drainage District Committee held on Monday 21 February 2005 be taken as read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

Biological Weed Control Proposal – Department of Conservation Grass Carp Application

The Drainage Manager updated the Committee on the status of the Biological Weed Control Proposal which had been considered by the Eastern and Western Plains Drainage Committees. It was advised that the Western Plains District Drainage Committee resolved at their meeting of 26 January 2005 that the proposal to introduce grass carp into the drains is agreed but that the Committee does not wish incur any further costs for processing the application. The Eastern Plains Drainage Committee advised at their February 2005 meeting that they were in agreement with this resolution.

DRAINAGE REPORT (45.697.999)

The report from the Drainage Manager was presented for the Committee’s consideration

RESOLVED

THAT the report be received

AND THAT the Drainage Committees Amalgamation report be received

AND THAT the Tirohia-Rotokohu Drainage District Committee supports the proposal to amalgamate the Komata North, Opukeko, and Tirohia Rotokohu Drainage Districts into one drainage district in the Paeroa Ward.

FINANCIAL REPORT

The financial report on the operations of the Tirohia-Rotokohu Drainage District Committee for the 12 months ended 30 June 2005 was presented for the members’ information.

RESOLVED

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Tirohia-Rotokohu District Committee for the 12 months ended 30 June 2005 be received.

LATE ITEMS

Partridge Drain

Concern was expressed about the continuing refusal of permission to get access to machine clean the drain. The Committee were wishing to see the weir control levels maintained, and suggested an alternative route for the drain could be considered.

RESOLVED

THAT the Drainage Manager and Drainage Overseer pursue the matter of access to maintain the drain, and that an alternative route for the drain be investigated.
