THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Western Plains Drainage District Committee held on Wednesday 27 August 2003 be taken as read and confirmed.

Culvert to the North of Hopai West Pump

The flap has been ordered for the culvert.

Drainage – Between two houses Hayward’s Road and the Rowing Club

This is still going ahead once the weather has improved.

 

DRAINAGE REPORT (45.499.002)

The monthly report from the Drainage Manager was attached for the Committee’s consideration

The Drainage Manager made mention that more spraying and mechanical cleaning has been done than what is mentioned in his report. This will show up in the financial report.

 

Maintenance/Fencing/Culverts (45.499.999)

A thank you card has been received from the Ngatea Kindergarten thanking the Council for the storm water connection.

 

Miranda-Waitakaruru Foreshore SB Reconstruction (45.608.001)

Hot Springs to District Boundary

The date for the hearing has been confirmed as the 10th October 2003. The hearing will start at 10.00 am and be in the Old Council Chamber of the Hauraki District Council building in Ngatea.

Evidence has to be in written format. It was suggested that the Chairman put forward a separate item of evidence in addition to the staff report. All documentation has to be circulated 5 working days prior to the hearing, ie by the 2nd October 2003.

Karito Canal to Waitakaruru

The contract has been concluded. Due to the requirement to widen the berm the contract price has been overrun by approximately 30%.

 

Ngatea Urban Development (45.A55.999)

The construction of the storm water reticulation in the Benner drive subdivision is nearly completed.

Piping Pipiroa Roadside West

The costs for the piping of Pipiroa Roadside are not available as yet

Joginder Singh Nagra property

RESOLVED

THAT the staff report on the progress made of the owner’s request for an explanation of the valuation to be included on the title.

FINANCIAL REPORT (45.499.003)

The financial report for the 2 months ending 31 August 2003 was attached for members’ information.

As the financial report is compiled after the agenda is prepared for the Western Drainage Committee meeting the financial report would be more up to date if it was tabled at the meeting.

THAT the tabled financial report be received

AND THAT if a more up to date financial report can be tabled at the Committee meeting, then that be accepted.

GENERAL BUSINESS

Opus has advised that Transit will be considering the construction of the Waitakaruru SH culvert in the current financial year.

A copy of a letter from Doc to the Grass Carp contractor advising the requirements for the Risk Assessment Report to be provided in support of the proposal to introduce carp into the Maukoro Outlet drain.

Dudding Drain (B56)

RESOLVED

THAT the Dudding Drain be extended by approximately 200 metres.
