CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY 30 MARCH 2005
RESOLVED
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Western Plains Drainage District Committee held on Wednesday 30 March 2005 be taken as read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
Ngatea Town Drain – Residents Letter (R and A Pascoe)
The Drainage Manager has scheduled an on-site meeting with the Pascoe’s to discuss the issue.
Kaihere Road – Road Crossing
The Drainage Overseer reported that the landowners have advised that they will repair the slipping drain bank at the road crossing.
Ngatea Development
The report from the last WPDD meeting will be considered by Council at the meeting of 29 April.
The Chairman commented that there needs to be careful consideration given to the drainage of development areas. Aesthetic issues need to be taken into consideration, and the problems such as rubbish deposition in open drains in residential areas.

Operations
Expenditures on spraying, mechanical cleaning, maintenance/fencing/culverts were all low in this period due to the minimal rainfall.
Pipiroa Roadside Drain
Construction is programmed to commence this month.
Proposed Landcorp Subdivision
The Drainage Manager advised that Environment Waikato require a 60m stopbank reserve to be established along the edge of the canal. The surveyor has been informed of this requirement by Council.
Kaihere Road Slump
The drain has been relocated, and provision made for future realignment of the curve.
Pumping Operations
The Drainage Manager informed the members that he will attend a meeting with Genesis Energy on Thursday, 28 April for discussions on pump power account billing.
Reporting of Financial Operating Statement
At the previous meeting the members were requested to comment if they were satisfied with the reporting of the financial operating statement. Comments received were that a graph could be used to show more detail of cash flows and depreciation funding accumulation. This presentation could be made available, but all financial reporting was being reviewed.
FINANCIAL REPORT (45.499.003)
The financial report for the 9 months ended 31 March 2005 was presented for members’ information.

GENERAL BUSINESS
The meeting was advised that the Landcorp drain had been sprayed.
The Drainage Overseer advised that Environment Waikato is cleaning the foreshore canal with the long reach machine, and were taking over one metre of silt and dumping it against the stopbank. The drain is completed to the end of the Domain.
The meeting closed at 11.30am.
