MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE WESTERN PLAINS DRAINAGE DISTRICT COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON WEDNESDAY 29 JUNE 2005 COMMENCING AT 10.30 AM

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY 25 MAY 2005

RESOLVED

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Western Plains Drainage District Committee held on Wednesday 25 May 2005 be taken as read and confirmed.

DRAINAGE REPORT (45.499.002) (14KB)

The monthly report from the Drainage Manager was presented for the Committee’s consideration.

RESOLVED

THAT the report be received.

WPDD05/24 Cox/Hayward CARRIED

Hot Springs to District Boundary

Ross Young commented on the policy for the grazing of Council stopbanks, considering they were generally sited on private property. It was suggested that an information pamphlet be produced, outlining the preferred methods of grazing and management.

Floodgates on Canal West Road

Robert Hicks requested the staff to prepare a schedule of floodgates that could be abandoned due to changes in ground levels, and the reconstruction of stopbanks and drainage reorientation. Some of the

Council and private floodgates may be surplus, and their continued existence could pose a flood threat if they are not properly monitored and maintained. The gates in question are on the Pouarua and Maukoro Canals.

Don Challis left the meeting at 11.45am.

 

FINANCIAL REPORT (45.499.003)

The financial report for the 11 months ended 31 May 2005 was presented for the members’ information.

RESOLVED

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Western Plains Drainage Committee for the 11 months ended 31 May 2005 be received.

It was commented that some of the information on capital expenditure in the Operating Statement was incorrect or inappropriately described. The Drainage Manager stated that he would investigate issues raised regarding the financial operating, and prepare a more correct report.

 

GENERAL BUSINESS

Muggeridge Pump Station

The Drainage Manager clarified to Guy Speedy the location of the survey investigation for the Muggeridge Pump station which Environment Waikato is undertaking.

 

The meeting closed at 12.10pm.
