MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE WESTERN PLAINS DRAINAGE DISTRICT COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON WEDNESDAY 23 NOVEMBER 2005 COMMENCING AT 10.30 AM

Presentation of Capital Expenditure and Loan Accounts by Council’s Management Accountant

Duncan Peddie, Management Accountant was in attendance at 10.30am and provided a presentation and explanation of the status of the various capital and loan accounts for the Drainage District.

The Committee requested that a yearly report on budget figures be made available to the Committee annually. Duncan Peddie advised that he will make these figures available in November, following Council adoption of annual accounts. It was also requested that the capital accounts summary provide more detail.

MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY 26 OCTOBER 2005

RESOLVED

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Western Plains Drainage District Committee held on Wednesday 26 October 2005 be taken as read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

Alan Harris Drain

Ross Young reported that the Alan Harris drain has been sprayed and mechanically cleaned. He also stated that the willow trees located along the edge of the drain at the location of the Wenham property have been removed. He has been advised that the costs for their removal have not been charged to the adjoining landowner as it is a Council drain. The Drainage Manager will investigate liability of costs for the trees removal further and report back.

 

DRAINAGE REPORT (45.499.002)(15KB)

The monthly report from the Drainage Manager was presented for the Committee’s consideration.

THAT the report be received.

WPDD05/52 Hayward/Speedy CARRIED

Waitakaruru Stream, Maukoro Canal to SH25 Bridge

It was requested that the Drainage Manager have plans prepared for the reinstatement of this reach of stopbank to a design height of 3.3m RL, with 3:1 batters, and a 3.0m top width. It was requested that the Drainage Manager finalise the design and proceed with the preparation of tender documents.

 

FINANCIAL REPORT (45.499.003)

The financial report for the 4 months ended 31 October 2005 was presented for members’ information.

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Western Plains Drainage Committee for the 4 months ended 31 October 2005 be received.

GENERAL BUSINESS

December Meeting

The Committee held discussions as to whether they wished to hold a December meeting. It was agreed that a meeting not be held on 21 December, provided there will still be time to consider the estimates at the scheduled January meeting, before Council adoption.

Christmas Function

It was agreed that the Christmas function for the Committee and staff be held at the Ngatea Hotel on Wednesday 14th December at 7.00pm.

Waihou Valley River and Piako River Scheme Meeting

Robert Hicks reported on the Environment Waikato WVR/PRS Liaison Committee meeting he had attended with Ian Troughton and Guy Speedy in Te Aroha on 7 November 2005.
