RESOLVED
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Western Plains Drainage District Committee held on Wednesday 30 August 2006 be taken as read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
Removal of Power Pole – Phillips Road
It was advised that PowerCo have informed that the work required to remove the power pole has been scheduled in their work programme.
Ngatea Town Drain – Hauraki Engineering
The Drainage Overseer advised that this work will be commence on Thursday 27 September, 2006 or alternatively, the following Monday, 2 October 2006.
Council Subdivision – Ex Leonard Land
Discussion was held regarding the investigations into the option of piping the drain and utilisation of this land. Robert Hicks requested that a meeting be held with himself and Council staff to discuss options on whether the drain at the subdivision should be piped to cater for stormwater disposal, and to evaluate other options of drainage at the subdivision.
Robert Hicks raised a concern regarding the limited capacity for water storage at the location if the drain is piped. The members agreed that the Committee should have a direct involvement with discussions on the subject and that a confirmed decision on the issue be communicated to them by Council once an agreement on the preferred drainage option has been reached.
RESOLVED
THAT the Drainage Manager formally write to Council on behalf of the Western Plains Drainage District Committee requesting an update on the status of investigations into the piping of the drain the Pipiroa Road subdivision.

The monthly report from the Drainage Manager was presented by the Acting Drainage Overseer for the Committee’s consideration

THAT the report be received.

Waitakaruru Stream Stopbank
Discussion was held regarding the straightening of the stopbank downstream from the twin bridges to the Indian Floodgate on the left bank. The members were referred to the attached aerial photograph of the area showing the stream and location of the stopbank.
It was requested that costs be investigated for the stopbank to be straightened at the first two corners of the stream which would increase berm flow.
A member noted that the area on the edge of the stream requires cleaning and requested that the water privet growing in the stream be removed.
Waitakaruru Stream Stopbank, Twin Bridges to Maukoro Canal bridge Right Bank
It as advised that this construction work will be completed by Christmas 2006. It was requested that the reconstruction of the left stopbank be investigated for completion at the same time as the right bank.
Miscellaneous Development
Members requested the Drainage Manager confirm the extent of proposals in item 4.3.
FINANCIAL REPORT (45.499.003)
The financial report for the 2 months ended 31 August 2006 was presented for the members’ information.

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Western Plains Drainage Committee for the 2 months ended 31 August 2006 be received.
