CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

RESOLVED

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Western Plains Drainage District Committee held on Wednesday 27 June 2007 be taken as read and confirmed.

Consultants report on urban drain system is due shortly.

 

DRAINAGE REPORT (45.499.002)

The monthly report from the Drainage Manager (25KB)  was presented for the member’s information.

RESOLVED

THAT the report be received.

Stopbank Maintenance

It was advised that the Upper Hot Springs Canal stopbanks shaping has been completed and work on the upper Karito Canal main channel and return stopbanks has commenced.

Canal East Road, Roadside Drain Culverts

It was requested that a letter be sent to the landowners adjacent to the roadside drain to advise the findings of the survey, and the Committee’s proposals for the reinstatement of the drain.

Preliminary Report on Storm -10 - 11 July 2007 : Scheme Flood Pumps

The preliminary report of the storm event in early July highlighted the need for standby generator capability for the Committee’s pumps.

Brian Carter requested that the stopbank on the Pouarua Canal be checked for height north of the Hopai West pump station. He commented that there was little freeboard.

RESOLVED

THAT the fitting of generator connections to the Hopai West, Rawerawe West, and Martinovich pump stations be investigated and reported to the Committee.

Wayne Bennett requested staff review removal of culverts at Central North Road. The land owner who previously did not support their removal is now agreeable. He requested that a survey of the drain be undertaken near the Laurich property.

 

FINANCIAL REPORT (45.499.003)

The financial report for the 12 months ended 30 June was presented for the member’s information.

RESOLVED

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Western Plains Drainage Committee for the 12 months ended 30 June be received.
