Mechanical Cleaning
It was reported that 33,350m of drains have been machine cleaned in Areas 4, 5, and 6. This is 11% of the total drain length.
Pump Operation
Regular inspection runs were undertaken in this period. A summary of pump hours operation for the current year to date is attached. Total running for all pumps in April was 114 hours. 29 man-hours were spent on weed screen cleaning.
Floodgates
Regular inspection checks were undertaken. Pitts Road and Pouarua floodgates were cleared.
Subdivisions
Willdren Farms Ltd, SH 27, Patetonga.
The two proposed lots have access to a Council drain (B27, Patetonga Road West North).
Ngatea Urban Development
Paul Leonard Development
The consulting company undertaking the detailed hydraulic modelling of the Ngatea urban drainage system expects to report the findings in late June 2007.
Canal East Road, Roadside Drain Culverts
A level survey of the private culvert inverts, and the drain invert at intervals has been completed. Attached was a sketch profile of the long section of the drain from the Pouarua Canal end to the upstream end near the Hopai west Road intersection.
Discussions have been held with Environment Waikato staff. The preference is to minimise the number of floodgated outlets through the right bank of the Maukoro Canal, but they are prepared to rationalise and retain outlets for an interim period until ground levels prevent flow from reaching the canal.
EW would probably construct a wall type floodgate structure, separate from the existing road culverts (which are the property of Council’s Roading assets).
A meeting with the adjacent owners is proposed to be held prior to meeting with Environment Waikato staff to finalise the medium term solution.
FINANCIAL REPORT (45.499.003)
