RECOMMENDATION
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Paeroa Ward Committee held on Monday 2 February 2004 be taken as read and confirmed.

5. COMMUNITY SERVICES
5.1 COMMUNITY FACILITIES MANAGERS MONTHLY REPORT (01.002.021) 5-8
The Community Facilities Managers monthly report on activities is attached for the Committee’s consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the Community Facilities Managers report be received.
5.2 END OF SEASON POOL SUPERVISOR’S REPORT – 2003/04 (02.199.999 9-14
The Pool Supervisor’s report to the Community Facilities Manager is attached for the Committee’s consideration.
THAT the report be received
3.1 That the total number of Pool Staff be increased from 8 to 9, comprising 8 Lifeguards and 1 Pool Supervisor.
3.2 That the Changing Rooms and Toilets at the Ngatea Public Swimming Pool be cleaned on a daily basis.
3.3 That the Ngatea Public Swimming Pool be vacuumed on a regular basis.
3.4 That an elevated, shaded Lifeguard Chair be installed at each pool.
3.6 That a sleeveless t-shirt or singlet be added to the lifeguard uniform.
3.7 That the 5pm-6pm timeslot at the Ngatea Pool be allocated to Lane Swimming and Aquarobics exclusively.
3.8 That a meeting of all Pool User Groups be held prior to the season opening to discuss issues arising from the 2003/2004 season.
3.9 That the current arrangement of the Pools being Free in January be maintained.
3.10 That the current arrangement with Hauraki Area Security Patrol be maintained for the 2004/2005 season.
3.11 That a safe similar to the one installed in Paeroa, be installed in the Ngatea Office.
3.12 That, in conjunction with Sport Waikato as a service provider and the Hauraki District Council as a facility provider, a variety of Aquatic Fitness and Aquatic Confidence activities be introduced into Pool Programme.
3.13 That the development of the Hauraki District Council Pool Operations Manual continue, with an aim for both Pools to be Poolsafe accredited by next season.
5.3 PAEROA SOCIETY OF ARTS 15-16
A letter of thanks to the Council from the Paeroa Society of Arts including the President’s Report for the year ended 31 October 2003 has been received.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the correspondence be received.
5.4 REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE 17-18
The Paeroa Tennis and Squash Club Inc. Fundraising Administrator has written seeking assistance with funding to upgrade their car park. They have received a grant from Pub Charities ($10,000) and fund-raised a further $5000. Quotes received indicate a cost between $19,750 and $20,822 (average $20,317) for the upgrade. This leaves them with a minimum shortfall of $4,750.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the letter be received
AND that a grant be made from the Paeroa Community Recreation Facilities Development Fund.

Attached is a report from the Community Liaison Officer regarding the Paeroa Information Centre.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the report be received.

The financial report for the 7 months ended 31 January 2004 is attached for the Committee’s consideration.
