Request from Paeroa Croquet Club for Seats around Croquet Court
A request has been received from the Croquet Club requesting the Ward Committee’s consideration towards installing additional seating at the Domain to allow spectators to view the croquet games. The two seats already existing face the athletics field so are of no use to them.
After discussion, it was agreed that as there is no funding provision for additional seating in the Domain, it was suggested that the two existing seats on the northern side of the court be repositioned side by side rather than installing two new seats and that the funding for this work be sourced from the Paeroa Ward Community Facilities Recreational Development Fund.

GENERAL BUSINESS
Update on Publication of the History of Paeroa
Mr Graham Watton attended the meeting at 1.15pm and updated the members on his progress in publishing the History of Paeroa. Mr Watton queried if ongoing funding was still available in support of the project. It was advised that the Ward provides one third and the District provides two thirds of the funding to a total sum of $15,600 over a three year period as agreed at the Paeroa Ward meeting of 12 July 2005.
Paeroa Domain Lighting – Thames Valley Rugby Union
It was advised that a meeting has been scheduled for discussions with the Club regarding the lighting at the Domain.
Public Conveniences: Paeroa
The Community Services Manager outlined the proposal to construct new public toilets in the Paeroa Town Centre and Ohinemuri Park which resulted from public submissions received to the LTCCP 2006-16.
It was advised that this proposal is a commitment from the 2003 public process to install two public toilets in the town centre. The members were asked to consider the number of toilets and their location as outlined in the report, being Ohinemuri Park and the area behind the Post Office.
Discussion was held as to the suitability of the proposed locations for the new toilet facilities. The members advised that they agreed that two toilets of a similar type to the Gilmour Reserve in Waihi be installed at Ohinemuri Park and in the area behind the Post office. The Community Facilities Manager commented that there was no issue with installing toilets at Ohinemuri Park as it was considered to be the most suitable location but it would be subject to Transit NZ approval.
The members were of the opinion that there was no necessity to have four toilet facilities in Paeroa. They considered that the toilets in Willoughby Street remain open in the interim as they are centrally located, and that once the other two sets of toilets are complete, that the Willoughby Street toilets be made available only when events are held at the Domain.
RESOLVED
THAT the Paeroa Ward Committee recommends to Council, the following:
- That two new toilets of a type similar to those at Gilmour Reserve Waihi, be installed in the Paeroa Post Office premises along the boundary with Normanby Road as per the site plan attached;
- That two new toilets of a type similar to those at Gilmour Reserve Waihi, be installed at Ohinemuri Park subject to permission from Transit NZ, and as per the site plan attached;
- That the two new sets of toilets be operated on a 7am – 6pm / 7 day basis;
- That the Willoughby Street toilets continue to be available to both Domain users and the public.

Railway Reserve Footpath Addition
