Trees at rear of Police Station

A letter supported by several verbal requests has been received for the removal of 2 large trees behind the Police Station at 14 Victoria Street, Paeroa. The people residing in the police house at the rear of the Police Station have complained that the trees block sunlight into the property causing dampness and mould.

The members considered that as these trees were not a safety issue and can be maintained to allow more light into the property, they should not be removed.

Storm Damage

The Parks and Reserves Manager advised of storm damage received to trees in the Railway Reserve. It was advised that three trees already in poor condition in the Paeroa Cemetery have fallen damaging a number of headstones and requested that they be removed.

GENERAL BUSINESS

ROADING WARD REPORT AUGUST 2007 (01.001.029) (41KB)

Draft Footpath Forward Work Programme (FWP) 2007/08

The Roading Manager presented the Draft Footpath Forward Work Programme (FWP) 2007/08 to review the changes made to the Footpath Strategy since the last report and to confirm the work programme for the next 5 years.

The members were advised that the proposed forward work programme details 10 years of New and 2 years Replacement Footpath. The detail of the replacement programme will be finalised when the rating survey and ‘as built’ information has been collated and the database has been updated.

The members and staff reviewed the priority of works proposed in the programme as presented.

Comments noted:

  1. Frances Street - the map shows a need to install FP for the full length excluding driveways, there is a length of existing FP and this needs to be accounted for.
  2. Grey Street - delay for approximately 5 years.
  3. Norwood Road - add short section in front of the new houses at the Station road end.
  4. Edwards Place - existing fence appears too close as with the legal boundary.
  5. Rotokohu Road – swap footpath to right hand side of the road.

RESOLVED

THAT the prioritisation methodology used to develop the Forward Work Programme for New and Replacement Footpaths be approved and implemented

AND THAT an annual review of the programme is carried out.
