RESOLVED
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Paeroa Ward Committee held on Tuesday 14 August 2007 be taken as read and confirmed.

The Community Services monthly report on activities was presented for the Committee’s consideration.
RESOLVED
THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.

War Memorial Hall
A member asked if the hall curtains will be ready for the show to be held on 21st and 22nd of September 2007. The Parks and Reserves Manager was requested to investigate the matter.
Town Centre - Toilets
The members were advised the design of the proposed toilets for the town centre has been put on hold until further discussions are held on the preferred design and location.
Domain : Drainage of No. 1 Rugby Field
The contractor undertaking the reinstatement of the No.1 field has suggested the field be mown with a catcher as the grass decomposes and creates ‘soil’ that will not allow water to drain through to the pipes. The Committee were asked if a reasonable price for catching the grass is received, that Council mowers be fitted with a catcher to remove the grass.
RESOLVED
THAT subject to a reasonable price being received to remove the grass, the field will be mown with a catcher to preserve the integrity of the field.

Swimming Pool - Heating
The member’s were advised that a full assessment on the pool heating will be available at the October Ward meeting.
Kennedy Street Tree - Damage Received to Vehicle
A request was received from a property owner in Kennedy Street advising that their vehicle and house were damaged due to a Council tree falling during the recent storm event. They seek costs from Council to cover their car insurance excess of $100 but are not seeking recompense towards the damage to their house. A copy of the insurance account was attached for the member’s consideration.
RESOLVED
THAT Council pay the property owners concerned their vehicle insurance excess of $100 to be sourced from the Road Reserve account.

Domain Toilets
Staff proposed that the ladies toilets in the Domain be lined with the same product as was used to line the men’s and disabled toilets. The cost for the work will be approx. $1,000.
RESOLVED
THAT the ladies toilets be lined with the Hippolon product at an approximate cost of $1,000.

GENERAL BUSINESS
PAEROA TOWN CENTRE LANDSCAPING APPROVAL (02.323.003)

A report was presented from the District Engineer which included a copy of the draft working drawings for the Paeroa Town Centre prepared by the contracted landscape company, Soul Environments Ltd.
RESOLVED
THAT the report be received.

The member’s were requested to consider approval of the draft working drawings ‘in principle’. It was advised the scope of the work contained in the working drawings acknowledges the constraints of the budget and is aimed at achieving the desired outcome within these constraints.
RESOLVED
THAT the draft working drawings be approved
AND THAT the Construction and Maintenance business unit price the schedule of rates
AND THAT the Construction and Maintenance business unit proceed with the work subject to favourable comparison of priced schedule with the independently prepared estimate and subject to budget constraints being met.

NZ Cricket Award Recipient - Mr M Cotter
The member’s were advised of local person, Mr Mike Cotter’s achievement in receiving the Sir Jack Newman Award for his contribution to NZ Cricket.
RESOLVED
THAT the Mayor on behalf of Council and the Paeroa Ward Committee formally convey their congratulations to Mr Mike Cotter for receiving the Sir Jack Newman Award.
