The Community Services monthly report on activities was presented by the Park and Reserves Manager for the Committee’s consideration.

THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.

REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Paeroa Ward Committee has been allocated $8000 for discretionary grants during this financial year. Grants have been made to Paeroa & District Museum and Historic Society ($1733.33), TVSO ($100), PACT ($100), Paeroa Pipe Bands & Tattoo ($1000), Hauraki Maori Basketball Association ($300) and to Plunket ($500) leaving a balance of $4,266.67.
ECHO WALK FEST [392823]
The Hauraki Coordinator writes advising that the committee has planned 23 guided walks during 19~27 April. The guided walks are free and range from the shorter 2 hour walks to the more challenging 4~5 hour hikes. The coordinator seeks financial assistance for the promotion and marketing of this event.
RESOLVED
THAT the Paeroa Ward Committee grants $250.00 in support of the Echo Walk Fest and request that the Waihi Ward matches this amount providing a total contribution of $500.00 from the two Wards.

HAURAKI RUGBY LEAGUE
A request has been received from Hauraki Rugby League for the use of the Domain on a Wednesday night to play junior competition games and utilise the changing sheds.
RESOLVED
THAT the Paeroa Ward Committee agree that the Hauraki Tigers Rugby League have use of the No. 2 Rugby Field in the Paeroa Domain subject to the agreement of the Thames Valley Rugby Union.

RUBBISH BINS
Another request has been made through Councils service request system for more rubbish bins to be installed at Centennial Park. More information relating to the existing bins was provided at the meeting and after discussion on this information, it was agreed that one extra rubbish bin be placed in Centennial Park to be located by the bridge.

THAT the Ward Committee agree that one additional rubbish bin be placed by the bridge in Centennial Park.

GENERAL BUSINESS
PAEROA SWIMMING POOL HEATING PROPOSAL (397936) (CR BUBB)
A report from the Community Services Manager presented the Paeroa swimming pool heating proposal with an estimate of costs relating to the proposal.
The member’s gave their support in principle that the pool be heated subject to consideration of submissions received during the public consultation process of the LTCCP 2009-19.
It was agreed that funding of $65,000 be allocated towards the heating component of the project to be sourced from the Paeroa Community Services Facilities and Recreational Development Fund to reduce the annual interest payments costs associated with the project.
RESOLVED
THAT the report be received
AND THAT the Ward Committee resolve to use $65,000 from the Paeroa Community Services Facilities and Recreational Development Fund for the heating components of the project subject to final consideration of the proposal following consideration of the submissions received over the public consultation process of the LTCCP 2009-19.

STAGE 2 FIELD LIGHTING PROPOSAL

A report from the Community Services Manager regarding the Paeroa Domain Stage 2 field lighting proposal was presented. Following discussion on what level of additional lighting should be provided for No. 2 Playing field, member’s agreed to install two lamps per mid field lighting tower. The meeting agreed to deploy lighting as shown in the following table.

THAT the lighting plan for No 1 field and additional lights for No 2 fields be as shown in the above table.

The Corporate Services Manager requested approval from the Committee to the naming of a road within the Northview Estate subdivision.

THAT Council name the road created off Kauri Grove as Rewarewa Place as per the attached plan.

LATE ITEMS OF BUSINESS
REQUESTS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Paeroa Little Theatre
A letter has been received from the Paeroa Little Theatre group requesting funding assistance towards the upgrade of the roof of their building.
RESOLVED
THAT the Ward Committee grants $1,000.00 to the Paeroa Little Theatre in support of the roof repair of their building.

Hauraki Tigers Rugby League Club (Under 9’s)
The Hauraki Tigers Rugby has written requesting the Committee’s consideration of sponsorship for their Under 9’s team consisting of 20 members.
RESOLVED
THAT the Ward Committee declines the request on the grounds that the Ward considers it is not generally the role of Council to provide sponsorship for uniforms.
