THAT pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the following late items be accepted for discussion.
- Historical Maritime Park – Request for Financial Assistance
The item was not on the agenda because the item was unavailable at the time of the agenda deadline.
Discussion on the item could not be delayed because the organisation requesting consideration of issues relating the park required the Committee’s attention as soon as practicable.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
Paeroa Main Street Parking
The Mayor stated that before consulting with the public on the main street car parking issue, Council should liaise with Positive Paeroa. The Roading Manager suggested that an implementation plan be discussed with Positive Paeroa on where parking signage should be and on the costs associated with the initiative.

The Community Services monthly report on activities was presented for the Committee’s consideration.

REQUESTS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Paeroa Ward Committee has been allocated $8000 for discretionary grants during this 2008/09 financial year. Grants have been made to Paeroa & District Museum and Historic Society ($1734), leaving a balance of $6,266.00.
CHANTELLE WINDLEBOURNE [422846]
Chantelle is a Year 11 student at Paeroa College and also a member of the Kapa Haka Roopu that represented Hauraki at the Cultural Festival in Jiading last year. Chantelle advises that she has been given an opportunity to go on the "Spirit of Adventure".
The cost for the sailing experience is $1125 and Chantelle had written asking that Council consider sponsoring her with this quest.
RESOLVED
THAT the Ward Committee grants $200.00 to Chantelle Windlebourne in support of her participation on the Spirit of Adventure.

Fencing – Railway Reserve Playground
The members were advised that the Lions Club have indicated they are willing to take on the fencing project at the Railway Reserve Playground. Discussion was held regarding the type and height of fencing. It was agreed that the Parks and Reserves Manager liaise with the Lions Club for discussions on the most suitable type of fence for the location.
LATE ITEM
Historical Maritime Park – Request for Financial Assistance
A letter has been received from Colin James of the Paeroa Maritime Park in which he advises that members of the park have recently undertaken a review of the site which has revealed that the park has been neglected to a point where it now requires a major clean up. They are also concerned that the park in its present state it is not a ‘good look’ for the entranceway to the Paeroa township.
As part of the efforts to tidy up the site, the group wish to remove all rubbish and have the lawns mowed. They request the Committee’s consideration to assisting financially towards this work to be undertaken.
RESOLVED
THAT the Paeroa Ward support the request in principle and grant $1,000.00 towards the mowing of the lawns and removal of rubbish from the Maritime Museum site.

FUTURE CAPITAL PROJECTS
The Community Services Manager requested the Ward members consider any future capital projects they thought should be included in the LTCCP 2009-19. It was agreed that the members come back to the next Ward meeting with their list of proposed projects.
