NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT A MEETING OF THE PAEROA WARD COMMITTEE WILL BE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON TUESDAY 15 JULY 2008 COMMENCING AT 12.30PM

Pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the Chairman is to call for late items to be accepted.

In the event of a late item, an explanation must be given as to why the item was not on the agenda and why discussion cannot be delayed for a subsequent meeting.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Paeroa Ward Committee held on Tuesday 10 June 2008 be taken as read and confirmed.

The Community Services monthly report on activities is attached for the Committee’s consideration.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.

REQUESTS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The Paeroa Ward Committee has been allocated $8000 for discretionary grants during this 2008/09 financial year.

PAEROA NEIGHBOURS [415830]

The Chairman of the Paeroa Foodbank writes advising that they have provided 64 families with food parcels so far this year with each parcel costing $43.70. Last year 468 people benefited from the Foodbank at a cost of $5004.

The Chairperson asks that Council would consider financially assisting this worthy cause.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT consideration be given to this request.

6. GENERAL BUSINESS

6.1 ROADING REPORT - JULY 2008 (CR MEYERS) (416423) 8-10

PAEROA MAIN STREET PARKING (31KB)

There is a perceived parking problem in the Paeroa main street that the existing unrestricted parking is being abused as an all day facility rather than a visitor/short term facility. Attached is a report from the District Engineer and Roading Manager which deals with the introduction of a maximum 2 hour parking limit in this area aimed at alleviating the problem.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received

AND THAT the network consultant is engaged to conduct a study to quantify the extent of the perceived parking problem and report on the effectiveness of enforcement options

AND THAT the budgetary implications and resource requirement be determined following acceptance of the study report

AND THAT a further report be submitted to Council when this information is available.
