Policing Update

The Mayor reported that additional police personnel have recently been recruited for the Paeroa area.

The Community Services monthly report on activities was presented for the Committee’s consideration.

THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.

REQUESTS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The Paeroa Ward Committee has been allocated $8000 for discretionary grants during this financial year. Grants have been made to Paeroa & District Museum and Historic Society ($1733.33), TVSO ($100), PACT ($100), Paeroa Pipe Bands & Tattoo ($1000), Hauraki Maori Basketball Association ($300), Plunket ($500), ECHO Walk Festival ($250), and Paeroa Little Theatre ($1000) leaving a balance of $3,016.67.

MORGAN MORROW [409265]

Morgan has been selected for the New Zealand U21 Touch Team that is competing for the Youth Touch World Cup in Wellington during January 2009. Morgan writes seeking assistance with her costs for the tournament.

Since receiving the Hauraki District Young Achievers Award in 2007, Morgan has been selected for a number of touch teams to represent New Zealand and has refereed and coached local teams for some time. Morgan hopes to represent New Zealand in the 2011 Open World Cup in Singapore.

RESOLVED

THAT the Paeroa Ward grants $200.00 from the Paeroa Ward Discretionary Fund to Morgan Morrow in support of her representation in the Under21 Touch Rugby team at the 2009 tournament in Wellington.

Eco Walking Festival

A letter of thanks for the Ward’s support towards the Eco Walking Festival was presented from the Sports Waikato - Hauraki Co-ordinator, Julie Stephenson.
