MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
Parking of Trucks in Residential Streets
Cr Thorp advised he had been approached by a resident of Davies Street, Paeroa concerned about a truck being parked in the end of the cul de sac restricting the vehicles being able to turn around at the end of the cul de sac.
The Mayor advised that there is no bylaw in existence which controls this problem but suggested that the matter be raised with the Roading Manager.

Hall Performance

REQUEST TO TRANSMIT FROM COUNCIL BUILDING [372588]
The Community Development Officer presented a letter from the ‘Unforgettable Music Society Inc.’ (UMSI) requesting permission to transmit a low power frequency modulation (LPFM) signal from a suitable Council building in Paeroa has been received. The society proposed to transmit music of the 1940~70’s era and messages targeting the senior residents within the Paeroa community.
The writer advises that a small area will be required to house a transmitter the size of the Auckland telephone directory, plus a computer. A 2.3 metre high antenna will also need to be positioned at the highest point possible. The computer will house the playlist and data that will be transmitted 24 hours a day. To update the list the writer has requested broadband access of approximately 10 minutes per week to this computer. Council is asked to provide broadband access.
Public performance permission to APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) and PPNZ (Phonographic Performances New Zealand) will also need to be secured; Council is asked to cover this license cost. The transmitter and computer are expected to use no more than 2 units of electricity per day; Council is asked to cover this cost.
After discussion, the member’s considered that they did not wish to contribute towards the establishment of the transmission of music from a Council building due to issues of security and that the request did not identify a community need for such a service.
RESOLVED
THAT the request be received
AND THAT the Paeroa Ward Committee declines the request.
