MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
Ngatea Swimming Pool - Covers
The Parks and Reserves Manager advised of the status of the covers and winding mechanism and informed that a price was being sought for electric winders and geared winders.
Entranceway Road and Power Lines at Stage 1 of Kerepehi Industrial Subdivision
The Community Services was asked if the prices upgrades at the subdivision to widen the road and pipe the drain from the development’s entranceway to SH2 and burial of the 66KV overhead power lines was available for council to consider.
The committee was informed that prices were still being sought and hopefully would be presented to the last May Council meeting.
Waitakaruru Domain – Scout Hall Building
The April meeting recommendation of the Plains Ward Committee regarding funding had not been forwarded onto the Council as had been requested and members were advised that it would be presented to the May 31 meeting. The Chief Executive had also informed that the cost estimate was being reviewed.

Netball Courts – Plains Netball Association
Representatives from the Association, Mrs Faye Baker and Mrs Vivienne Tubic were in attendance and provided a PowerPoint presentation on their proposal to acquire an area within the Hugh Hayward Domain on which to establish a netball court facility. The Association presently use the Hauraki Plains College courts which are no longer suitable for their needs. They requested Councils’ consideration of allocating an area in the Domain for six courts. The group advised they are presently investigating funding sources in support of the project.
It was agreed that the proposal be referred to the Council meeting of Thursday, 31 May 2007 for further consideration and it was suggested that the group also present their proposal to the Domain Users Committee for their comments.
RESOLVED
THAT the proposal received from the Plains Netball Association to the allocation of land in the Hugh Hayward Domain be advised to Council for further consideration at the Council Meeting of 31 May 2007.

REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (20.030.003)
Hauraki Plains College [IM276143]
The Fabric Technology Year 12 Class advises that they are fundraising for a 4 day trip to Wellington for 23 students. This trip includes visiting the university and the Wearable Art Show. They plan a number of activities for fundraising, one being a "Make and Model Fashion Show" compared by Annah Stretton.
The show will be held in the Ngatea War Memorial hall on Saturday 25 August 2007 with the hall being set up on the Friday prior. Hire charges for the hall are $155.00 for the Friday and $200 for the Saturday.
The students ask that the Ward consider financial assistance towards the hire costs.
RESOLVED
THAT the Ward grants the Hauraki College $200.00 towards the hire of the hall for their Saturday night function.

Ngatea Swimming Pool - Heating
Discussion was held regarding the cost of keeping the pool heated. The Parks & Reserves Manager was requested to contact the Swimming Club to find out if they were willing to run ‘learn to swim’ classes over the August school holidays. And also to determine when the heating of the pool for the next swimming season should commence.
Vandalism – Public Toilets
It was reported that cameras are being installed at the public toilets in the main street to assist in reducing vandalism.
