LATE ITEMS

Pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the Chairperson called for late items to be accepted.

RESOLVED

THAT pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the following late items be accepted for discussion.

- Hauraki Plains Lioness Club

The item was not on the agenda because the item was unavailable at the time of the agenda deadline.

Discussion on the item could not be delayed because the group required the consideration of the Ward Committee before the next meeting.

- Kopuarahi Community Centre

The item was not on the agenda because the item was unavailable at the time of the agenda deadline.

Discussion on the item could not be delayed because the community centre members required a decision on their request as soon as practicable to allow them to undertake the metal surfacing work required before the winter season.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

Vandalism - Public Toilets - Patetonga

The member’s were advised that the toilets have been repaired and repainted.

Death of Ruby Wenzlick

The member’s were advised of the death of community member, Ruby Wenzlick.

RESOLVED

THAT a letter of condolence be sent to Ken Wenzlick.

Ngatea Memorial Hall

The member’s were advised that the re-roofing of the hall will commence once the weather is suitable.

Cr Gordon requested that the Ward members meet with the Community Facilities Manager (Robyn Kirby) to discuss matters relating to the hall and that the member’s also meet with the District Engineer and the Roading Manager for discussions regarding the Pipiroa Road kerb and channel project. It was agreed to meet on Monday 21st April at 9.00am at the RSA (Pipiroa Road) and 9.30am to meet with the Community Facilities Manager at the Ngatea Hall.

 

COMMUNITY SERVICES

COMMUNITY SERVICES MONTHLY REPORT (398052) (33KB)

The Community Services monthly report on activities was attached for the Committee’s consideration.

THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.

Car Parking - Hugh Hayward Domain

Cr Gordon requested that marking of some of the parking bays be carried out prior to the main marking to ensure people utilise the parking area more efficiently.

Swimming Pool

The members were advised that there has been a notable increase in pool usage which has been attributed to the installation of the heating system.

Letter of Thanks - Spreading of Topsoil by Hauraki Junior Rugby Club Members

It as requested that a letter of recognition be sent to the people who helped with spreading of topsoil on the No. 1 field in the Hugh Hayward Domain. The Parks and Reserves Manager was requested to write a letter of thanks to the people concerned.

Soccer and Rugby Field Drainage

The Parks and Reserves Manager advised that drainage work on the soccer and rugby fields should commence once the playing season has finished.

Mowing of Fields

The member’s advised that the mower has been adjusted to cut the grass at a lower level to improve the quality of the field’s surface.

Letter from Mrs Mules - Ngatea Public Library

Cr Leonard reported she had spoken with Mrs Mules regarding the concerns she had raised in her letter about the proposal to relocate the public library. Cr Leonard told Mrs Mules that at this stage it was just a proposal.

It was agreed that a letter of reply be sent to Mrs Mules from the Mayor addressing her concerns regarding the public library proposal.

NGATEA HALL AND DOMAIN MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (399450) ; ; (15KB)

Minutes of the Ngatea Hall and Domain Management Committee meeting held on Thursday 21 February 2008 were attached for the information of the Committee.

RESOLVED

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Ngatea Hall and Domain Management Committee held on Thursday 21 February 2008 be received and the recommendations contained therein, adopted.

GENERAL BUSINESS

Poor Conditions of Roads - Hauraki Plains

Cr Leonard requested that signage alerting drivers to the poor condition of particular roads on the Hauraki Plains be placed at high risk locations, in particular, Canal East Road.

Proposal to Community Contact with Ward Committee as part of the Community Outcomes Process

Cr Leonard requested that from the month of June 2008, Ward member’s meet at various sites around the Plains area to allow residents and ratepayers to meet with them on an informal basis. It was suggested that this was an opportunity for members of the public to make contact with their local representatives at a community level. It was requested that a notice advising of the location of these informal meetings be advertised in the Plains Profile newspaper.

Community Policing Update

It was agreed that representatives of the Police be invited to attend the May meeting of the Ward for discussions on community policing.

 

LATE ITEMS OF BUSINESS

Kopuarahi Community Centre - Request for Donation of Metal for Parking Area

A letter has been received from the Kopuarahi Community Centre members requesting that the Ward Committee consider the donation of metal to the centre for resurfacing the parking areas around the centre.

After consideration of the request, the Committee agreed that a donation of metal be provided to the centre and that the Community Services Manager organise this donation.

RESOLVED

THAT the Ward Committee approve the request to donate metal for the Kopuarahi Community Centre parking area.

Hauraki Plains Lionesses Club - Remission of Hall Fees

A letter was received requesting a waiver of hall hire fees for an event held by the Hauraki Plains Lionesses Club on the 11th April 2008.

RESOLVED

THAT the Ward Committee approve a waiver of hall hire fees to the Hauraki Plains Lionesses Club for their event held on 11th April 2008.
