NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT A MEETING OF THE PLAINS WARD COMMITTEE WILL BE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON TUESDAY 10 FEBRUARY 2009 COMMENCING AT 9.00 AM

The Community Services monthly report on activities is attached for the Committee’s consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.
REQUESTS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Plains Ward Committee has been allocated $3,200.00 for discretionary grants during 2008/09 financial year.
There are two applications for financial assistance this month.
WAITAKARURU DOMAIN BOARD [446697]
A request from the Honorary Secretary for financial support towards the cost of replacing the front doors to the domain building has been received.
The applicant advises that the cost for fitting the new doors is $3,088.86
NGATEA PRIMARY SCHOOL [456139]
The school administrator writes advising that they were unsuccessful with an application to Creative NZ for their N-Rock show that was performed in the Ngatea War Memorial Hall on the 11/12 December 2008. Their students used the memorial hall for their (16) practices as well as a matinee and an evening show incurring a hall hire charge of $300.00
The administrator asks the Ward to consider reducing the hall hire charges.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT consideration be given to these requests.
SWIMMING POOL
A request has been received from Sport Waikato for a reduction in the entry fee for the annual school kids hockey "give it a go day" at the astro turf. This has become an annual fixture and involves children from all the surrounding primary schools. The request is to drop the entry fee from $2 to $1 and is attached.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT consideration be given to this request.
MAIN STREET - TREES
There have been two requests that the trees on the main street be removed or replaced out side their shops with more suitable trees by two business owners who have issues with the leaves and also the trees are blocking their signage. These requests are attached for your perusal.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT consideration be given to these requests.
H.H. DOMAIN – CAR PARK LIGHTS
Confirmation has been received from the Roading Manager that the lights in the car park at the Domain are to have their power supply cut in the near future, so, either a new power supply will have to be sourced or they will not be operational until the netball courts are installed and the power is sourced for them.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the most appropriate power source be located and connected so the lights are operational.

Minutes of the Ngatea Hall and Domain Management Committee meeting held on Thursday 20 November 2008 are attached for the information of the Committee.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Ngatea Hall and Domain Management Committee held on Thursday 20 November 2008 is received and the recommendations contained therein, adopted.
