NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT A MEETING OF THE PLAINS WARD COMMITTEE WILL BE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON TUESDAY 15 SEPTEMBER 2009 COMMENCING AT 9.00 AM

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Plains Ward Committee held on Tuesday 11 August 2009 are confirmed and are a true and correct record. .

5.1 COMMUNITY SERVICES MONTHLY REPORT (510469) (40KB) 4-8

The Community Services monthly report on activities is attached for the Committee’s consideration.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.

REQUESTS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The Plains Ward Committee has been allocated $4,000.00 for discretionary grants during 2009/10 financial year. A grant has been made to Ngatea Rugby Sports Club ($1,000) leaving a balance of $3,000.00.

There is one request for financial assistance this month.

LIFE EDUCATION TRUST [510748]

The Secretary for the Paeroa sub-branch of the Trust writes advising that they are co-planning fundraising events in conjunction with the Paeroa Rotary Club and Positive Paeroa Inc.

The events will be held in the Paeroa Domain on the 19/20 September. The Trust plans to invite the Riverside Jazz Band to play at the events and seeks a grant of $600.00 from each of the ward committees.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the correspondence be received

AND THAT consideration is given to this request.

Waitakaruru - Rubbish

We have been experiencing a significant increase in the amount of rubbish being dropped outside the Waitakaruru Toilets and bus stop. Along with 4 complaints, the cleaners and neighbours have also rung expressing their displeasure at what is occurring and request that a bin be installed in the vicinity of the bus stop and toilet.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the request be received for consideration.

6. NETWORK SERVICES

6.1 PLAINS WARD ROADING REPORT AUGUST 2009 (CR HARRIS) (510813) (292KB)  9-37

Attached is a report from the Roading Manager and District Engineer regarding district roading matters and further consideration of the Walking & Cycling Strategy Programme.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received

AND THAT a new road sign for Makomako Marae on Back Miranda Road be approved for installation

AND THAT the detailed Walking and Cycling programme be amended as determined by the Committee before proceeding to public consultation.
