The Community Services monthly report on activities is attached for the Committee’s consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the Community Services report be received.
5.2 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE 11-14
Go Waihi write seeking support from Council for continued funding for the 2001/02 financial year towards the community activities that they are involved in.
A copy of their letter has been lodged in the Annual Plan submission process.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the letter be received
AND THAT the Waihi Ward Committee reconfirms the inclusion of the funding allocation in the Draft Annual Plan.

6.1 FINANCIAL REPORT (01.001.025) 15-17
The financial report for the 10 months ended 30 April 2001 is attached for the Committee’s consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the financial report on the operations of the Waihi Ward Committee for the 10 months ended 30 April 2001 be received.

7.2 UTILITIES: MONTHLY REPORT (01.001.028) 26-37
The Utilities Manager’s monthly report to the Works Committee is attached.

7.3 DISTRICT ENGINEER: MONTHLY REPORT (01.011.028) 38-40
The District Engineer’s monthly report to the Works Committee is attached.

The Drainage Manager’s monthly report to the Works Committee is attached.

8. GENERAL BUSINESS
8.1 WAIKINO LIAISON COMMITTEE (24.003.201) 44
Attached is a request from the Waikino Liaison Committee to reinstate the programme of plantings around various locations in Waikino. The Committee ask that a sum of $1,000 annually is provided within the Annual Plan to finance a three year programme. This request has also been lodged as a submission to the Annual Plan.
In 1995 the Waihi Community Board initiated the fore runner to this programme and commissioned plantings on a similar basis. Some of the trees and shrubs survive today, and the Liaison Committee would like to add to that programme which cost approximately $3,000 over a like period.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the request be received
AND THAT the submission to the Annual Plan be favourably considered at the appropriate time.
8.2 VICTORIA BATTERY TRAMWAY SOCIETY INC (02.609.999) 45-46
Attached is a letter expressing concerns about the intended level of service in the proposed Waihi Information Centre. The Society is worried that should the Information Centre contain model historical displays they will unnecessarily compete with the real time displays that other organisations within the community have to show to visitors.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the letter be received.
