RECOMMENDATION

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Waihi Ward Committee held on Tuesday 30 January 2001 be taken as read and confirmed.

5. COMMUNITY SERVICES

5.1 COMMUNITY SERVICES MONTHLY REPORT (01.002.021) 7-8

The Community Services monthly report on activities is attached for the Committee’s consideration.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the Community Services report be received.

5.2 REQUEST FOR TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE (40.000.500) 9

A request had been received from the Thames Valley Car Club Inc for consent to close Golden Valley Road, Waihi for the purpose of an event organised by them on Sunday 22 April 2001.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT it be recommended to Council as follows:

THAT pursuant to Section 11(e) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974 Council consent to the temporary road closure of Golden Valley Road, Waihi on Sunday 22 April 2001, between the hours of 10am and 5pm, for the purpose of an event organised by the Thames Valley Car Club Inc. be given subject to the following conditions:

That no objections to the closure are received, which are upheld by Council

That the organisers shall be responsible for all costs associated with the events, including advertising.

That the organisers shall notify all affected residents and property owners within the closure area and obtain their written consent to the closure.

That ordinary traffic shall be permitted to use the road between events subject to the proviso that no traffic is held up for a period exceeding thirty (30) minutes.

That the event shall be under the control of appropriate marshals and that radio communications shall be maintained at all times.

That the organisers shall arrange adequate public liability insurance in respect of any claim arising from the event, a copy to be supplied to the Council by 3 April 2001.

The organisers shall indemnify the Council from all or any claims arising from the road closure.

That signage to the satisfaction of the District Engineer, Hauraki District Council shall be erected at each end of the closed road indicating the period of closure and that ordinary traffic may use the road as set out in condition 4 above.

That only road tyres shall be used.

The road will be inspected before and after the event and any damage will be made good at the cost of the applicant.

That in the event of heavy rain the District Engineer, Hauraki District Council, shall cancel the approval.

The proposed closure will be advertised in the Hauraki Herald on 6 March (with objections closing 23 March 2001).

5.3 REQUESTS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (20.030.002) 10-13

The Waihi Ward Committee presently has $5,000.00 left in their 2000/01 allocation.

Waihi Scout Troop

The Hauraki District Scout Leader has written to Council requesting financial support toward their Jamboree project. The jamboree will be held at Mystery Creek Hamilton from 29 December 2001 to 7 January 2002.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the letter be received

AND THAT consideration be given to this request.

6. CORPORATE SERVICES

6.1 FINANCIAL REPORT (01.001.025) 14-15

The financial report for the 7 months ended 31 January 2001 is attached for the Committee’s consideration.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Waihi Ward Committee for the 7 months ended 31 January 2001 be received.

7. ENGINEERING SERVICES

7.1 ROADING: MONTHLY REPORT (01.001.029) 16-24

The Roading Manager’s monthly report to the Works Committee is attached.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received.

7.2 UTILITIES: MONTHLY REPORT (01.001.028) 25-31

The Utilities Manager’s monthly report to the Works Committee is attached.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received.

7.3 DISTRICT ENGINEER: MONTHLY REPORT (01.011.028)

The District Engineer’s monthly report to the Works Committee will be circulated before the meeting.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received.

7.4 DRAINAGE: MONTHLY REPORT (01.001.020) 32-33

The Drainage Manager’s monthly report to the Works Committee is attached.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received.

8.    GENERAL BUSINESS

8.1 TELECOM FREE CALLING AREAS

Cr Baker wants to discuss Telecom Free Calling areas.

8.2 WAIHI INFORMATION CENTRE (02.609.999) 34-36

Attached is a report from the Community Services Manager regarding the Waihi Information Centre, to be considered in conjunction with the 2001/2002 estimates.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the Waihi Ward Committee includes in the draft Annual Plan an amount of $55,000 for the operation of a Visitor Information Centre and requests Council includes a capital sum of $100,000 for the development of an appropriate building to accommodate the Centre.

8.3 2001/2002 ESTIMATES (24.003.201) 37-54

Attached are the 2001/2002 estimates along with a report from the Planning & Environmental Services Manager.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT it be recommended to Council that the Waihi Ward 2001/2002 estimates be approved and included in the 2001/2002 Draft Annual Plan.
