MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE WAIHI WARD COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON MONDAY 7 JULY 2003 COMMENCING AT 3.30 PM

RESOLVED

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Waihi Ward Committee held on Tuesday 3 June 2003 be taken as read and confirmed.

There were no matters arising from the minutes.

His Worship attended the meeting at 3.35 pm.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

COMMUNITY FACILITIES MANAGERS MONTHLY REPORT (01.002.021)

The Community Facilities Managers monthly report on activities was attached for the Committee’s consideration.

RESOLVED

THAT the Community Facilities Managers report be received.

Reserves – Whiritoa Tennis Club

The Community Facilities Manager advised that correspondence had been received from the Whiritoa Tennis Club, requesting remission of Clause C of the agreement between the Club and Council concerning the requirement that the Club pay a rental fee for use of the courts on Club Days.

His Worship left the meeting at 3.40 pm.

RESOLVED

THAT the correspondence be received

AND THAT the Waihi Ward Committee grant remission of Clause C of the Agreement with the Whiritoa Tennis Club for the year commencing 1 April 2003 – 31 March 2004, based on the information supplied by the Club.

Committee members reported on community meetings that they had attended.

Cr Wightman presented a report on the activities of GO Waihi for the month of July.

The financial report for the 11 months ended 31 May 2003 was attached for the Committee’s consideration.

THAT the financial report on the operations of the Waihi Ward Committee for the 11 months ended 31 May 2003 be received.

ROADING: MONTHLY REPORT (01.001.029)

The Roading Manager’s monthly report to the Works Committee was attached.

The Utilities Manager’s monthly report to the Works Committee was attached.

Water Supplies

Waihi Water, Waitekauri Water Source Option

The Utilities Manager advised that consultants had been engaged to undertake a risk analysis related to possible use of the Waitekauri River as a water source for Waihi. The conclusions were outlined in the report.

RESOLVED

THAT the Waihi Ward Committee supports the recommendation to the Works Committee that four months of water quality analysis be undertaken on the lower Waitekauri River, Upper Waitawheta River and Walmsley Stream.

East End Extension

Council had been requested by two residentially zoned properties in Gladstone Road Waihi to connect to the public sewerage.

RESOLVED

THAT the Waihi Ward Committee supports the recommendation to the Works Committee that the sewer be extended to service two lots in Gladstone Road for an estimated sum of $15,000.

DRAINAGE: MONTHLY REPORT (01.001.020)

The Drainage Manager’s monthly report to the Works Committee was attached.

THAT the report be received.

WWC03/76 Baker/Morrison CARRIED

Waihi Stormwater

The Drainage Manager advised that there were some works in the Adams/Wellington Street area would be undertaken as soon as practicable. This particular item was a specific condition of the Stormwater discharge consents just granted.

Staff had undertaken a survey and made estimates for a range of options and the estimate for piping the full length of 105m was $18,780.

RESOLVED

THAT the Waihi Ward Committee supports the recommendation to the Works Committee that the construction of 105m of piped drain to serve the low properties in Mangatoetoe Street proceed, at an estimated cost of $18,780.
