COMMUNITY FACILITIES MANAGERS MONTHLY REPORT (01.002.021)
The Community Facilities Managers monthly report on activities was presented for the Committee’s consideration.
RESOLVED
THAT the Community Facilities Managers report be received.

Halls
The Community Facilities Manager requested the Committee consider the disposal of the surplus stock of chairs.
The new chairs for the Waihi Memorial Hall will be delivered on Friday 20 June and as there is a storage issue, the old chairs will need to be disposed of. It was suggested that the Waikino Hall Committee be approached to see if they are interested in the chairs. It was also suggested that they could be tendered or sold at the market that is held at the Memorial Hall. The Community Facilities Manager will approach the Waikino Hall Committee.
RESOLVED
THAT surplus stock of chairs, currently held in the inventory of the Waihi Memorial Hall, be disposed of.

GILMOUR RESERVE – ENTRANCEWAY MARKERS (02.627.999)
The Community Facilities Manager’s report regarding concept design options for the entranceway markers to be erected by the new carpark in the reserve was presented. Also attached was information outlining the options for structures for the entranceways and submitted designs received from various artists for the Committee to consider.
The Community Facilities Manager will arrange a time that the Ward committee can meet with Trevor Heighway at Gilmour Lake to discuss what would be an appropriate design for the entranceway markers. Before the meeting, the committee will need to decide how much funding is available for this project.

THAT the report be received
AND THAT after considering the designs submitted, the Committee indicate it’s preferred choice for the Entranceway Markers at Gilmour Reserve.

WAIHI EVENTS CENTRE – LEASE (02.636.999)
The report from the Community Facilities Manager regarding the lease of the Events Centre to the Sports ‘n’ Action Group was submitted along with a letter from a representative of the Group.

THAT the report be received
AND THAT the Waihi Ward Committee elect Clrs Hayden and Wightman, to meet, along with Council staff, representatives of the Waihi Sport ‘N Action Group to finalise a lease for an Office in the Waihi Events Centre, in keeping with the general terms and conditions outlined above.

REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (20.030.002)
Waihi Bowling Club
The Community Liaison Officer’s report outlining a request for financial assistance from the Waihi Bowling Club was presented

AND THAT the Ward committee contribute $500.00 to the Waihi Bowling Club towards the cost of hosting three days of tournaments in their centenary year.

Waihi Walkway Group
A report was presented from the Waihi walkway group seeking funding assistance for the work programme that the Waihi college students have become involved with on the Mill stream Walkway.
Ms Ruth Ordish Benner will be invited to the next ward committee meeting to give an update on general matters relating to the walkway.

AND THAT the Waihi Ward committee contribute $500.00 to the Waihi walkway group to assist the Waihi college students with the purchase of plants for planting on the Mill Stream Walkway.

AND THAT the Committee resolve to utilise funds from the Non Subsidised Roading Waihi Local Road Upgrading budget, to meet the cost of the installation.

LATE ITEMS OF BUSINESS
The Council has initiated a campaign with the support of the Police to educate the community that bikes and skateboards are not allowed to be ridden on the footpaths in the business areas. All the schools in Waihi will be informed that the Police will be enforcing the skateboard bylaw and dealing with the riding of bikes on the footpaths under the traffic regulations. The Police will also be enforcing the wearing of helmets when riding bikes. The campaign will also be highlighted on Page 7 of the Hauraki Herald.
The meeting closed at 3.55pm.
