The Community Services monthly report on activities is attached for the Committee’s consideration.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.

REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE [20.030.002]

The Waihi Ward Committee has been allocated $7000 for discretionary grants during this financial year. The Committee has allocated $150 to Waihi Golf Club, $1000.00 to Oresome Wearable Arts, $785.00 to Waihi Summer Festival, $36 for Community Christmas Carol Celebration, $52.50 to the Woodlands Floriste, $150 for Children’s Day, $350 for the Chilton mural, $500 to the Salvation Army, and $100 for the Echo Walking Festival leaving a balance of $3,376.50.

CREATIVE WAIHI [IM273041]

A request from the Steering Group coordinator for assistance with hall hire costs has been received.

The group is organising an event "ARTrageous" to be held in the memorial hall on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th April 2007. This event will showcase painting, sculpting, mosaics and massage as well as have local musicians perform on stage.

Public entry will be by ‘gold coin’ donation.

The cost of hiring the complex from Thursday through to Saturday evening is $235.00

RECOMMENDATION

THAT consideration be given to this request.

AND THAT the fee proposal of Ken Gorbey for a review of the Waihi Museum be accepted.
