Pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the Chairman is to call for late items to be accepted.
In the event of a late item, an explanation must be given as to why the item was not on the agenda and why discussion cannot be delayed for a subsequent meeting.

RECOMMENDATION
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Waihi Ward Committee held on Tuesday 14 August 2007 be taken as read and confirmed.

The Community Services monthly report on activities is attached for the Committee’s consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.
REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Waihi Ward Committee has been allocated $7000 for discretionary grants during this financial year. The Committee has allocated $500 to Whiritoa Surf Life Saving Club, $100 to Thames Valley Special Olympics, $795.00 to Waihi Summer Festival, and $200 to Waihi Community Resource Centre leaving a balance of $5,405.00.
AQUATIC SAFETY RESEARCH [IM288495]
Attached is a request received from Mr Billy Doyle, member of the Aquatic Safety Research Organisation and Senior Lifeguard of the Whiritoa Lifeguard Service.
Mr Doyle seeks the consideration of the Ward towards funding assistance to allow him to attend and present results of postgraduate study research at the 2007 World Water Safety Conference to be held in Portugal from the 19th to 29th September 2007.
The total amount of funding for this project is $3,380.00. Mr Doyle seeks consideration of $1,000 or part thereof.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT consideration be given to the request.
WHIRITOA PLAY GROUND
Attached are a number of playground layouts including their costs for consideration of the Whiritoa Playground upgrade.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT appropriate playground equipment be installed at the Whiritoa Playground to a maximum price of $53,000.
PUMPHOUSE ENTRANCE
Attached is a copy of the proposed plantings for the wall area and the area above the entrance road, and a copy of the proposed planting for below the road will be presented at the meeting. The cost of restoring the rock wall of $13,000 has been provided by the landscape company and the cost of the plants will be approx $3,000. The planting below the road is to link with the streetscape theme of a vein of gold running through the garden as is portrayed on the paving at the frontage of the Memorial Hall.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the planting proposed by the landscape company be approved and the Gold Company be approached to seek their assistance with the cost of reconstructing the wall.
