THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Waihi Ward Committee held on Tuesday 11 March 2008 be taken as read and confirmed.

The Community Services monthly report on activities is attached for the Committee’s consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.
REQUEST FOR CHANGE TO HALL HIRE CHARGE – WAIHI MARTHA MARKET
A letter has been received from Jenny West on behalf of the Waihi Martha Market group requesting a change to the rate that they are charged for the hireage of the Waihi Hall. Presently the group is charged a commercial rate, which is $20.00 per hour for 6 hours, plus $5.00 for the use of the kitchen facilities. They are requesting that this is changed to a non profit rate which would be $7.50 per hour for 6 hours plus $10.00 for the use of the kitchen facilities.
Attached is a financial statement for the Waihi Martha market.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT consideration be given to this request.
REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Waihi Ward Committee has been allocated $7000 for discretionary grants during this financial year. To date the Committee has allocated $500 to Whiritoa Surf Life Saving Club, $100 to Thames Valley Special Olympics, $795.00 to Waihi Summer Festival, $200 to Waihi Community Resource Centre, $300 to Bill Doyle, $160 to Creative Waihi, $105 to Bosom Buddies, $55 to Waihi Rotary, $75 to Waihi Ministers Association and a further $295 to Creative Waihi leaving a balance of $4,415.00.
ECHO WALK FEST [392823]
The Hauraki Coordinator writes advising that the committee has planned 23 guided walks during 19~27 April. The guided walks are free and range from the shorter 2 hour walks to the more challenging 4~5 hour hikes. The coordinator seeks financial assistance for the promotion and marketing of this event.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT consideration be given to this request.
WAIHI WALKWAYS
A letter (attached) has been received from the Waihi Walkways team who have outlined several projects they have for the coming year.
Ruth Ordish from the Walkways group will be in attendance to provide a presentation to the Committee at 3.00pm.
