RECOMMENDATION
THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.
REQUEST FOR TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ROAD
VINTAGE CAR CLUB BAY OF PLENTY BRANCH
A request has been received from the Vintage Car Club Bay of Plenty for consent to close Trig Road North Waihi, between Beach and Heard Roads for the purpose of an event organised by them on Sunday 30 March 2008.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT it be recommended to Council as follows:
THAT pursuant to Section 11(e) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974 Council consent to the temporary road closure of Trig Road North Waihi between Beach and Heard Roads for the purpose of an event organised by them on Sunday 30 March 2008 between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm, for the purpose of an event organised by the Vintage Car Club Bay of Plenty be given subject to the following conditions:
1. That no objections to the closure are received, which are upheld by Council
2. That the organisers shall be responsible for all costs associated with the events, including advertising.
3. That the organisers shall notify all affected residents and property owners within the closure area and obtain their written consent to the closure.
4. That ordinary traffic shall be permitted to use the road between events subject to the proviso that no traffic is held up for a period exceeding thirty (30) minutes.
5. That the event shall be under the control of appropriate marshals and that radio communications shall be maintained at all times.
6. That the organisers shall arrange adequate public liability insurance in respect of any claim arising from the event, a copy to be supplied to the Council by 28 March 2008.
7. The organisers shall indemnify the Council from all or any claims arising from the road closure.
8. That signage to the satisfaction of the District Engineer, Hauraki District Council shall be erected at each end of the closed road indicating the period of closure and that ordinary traffic may use the road as set out in condition 4 above.
9. That only road tyres shall be used.
10. The road will be inspected before and after the event and any damage will be made good at the cost of the applicant.
11. That in the event of heavy rain the District Engineer, Hauraki District Council, shall cancel the approval.
The approved closure will be advertised in the Hauraki Herald on 25 March 2008.
REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Waihi Ward Committee has been allocated $7000 for discretionary grants during this financial year. The Committee has allocated $500 to Whiritoa Surf Life Saving Club, $100 to Thames Valley Special Olympics, $795.00 to Waihi Summer Festival, $200 to Waihi Community Resource Centre, $300 to Bill Doyle, $160 to Creative Waihi, $105 to Bosom Buddies, $55 to Waihi Rotary, and $75 to Waihi Ministers Association leaving a balance of $2,290.00.
CREATIVE WAIHI – ARTRAGEOUS [392242]
A letter from Berys Daly advising Council that the Waihi Artist group has hired the Waihi Memorial Hall for the "ARTrageous" event that will take place in hall the from Thursday 1st May through to Sunday 3rd May 2008.
The group asks for the grant of $295.00 to cover hall and crockery hireage.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT consideration be given to this request.
GILMOUR RESERVE
The introduction of a new security light in Gilmour Reserve car park has been assessed. It is proposed that the light be placed near the toilets, east of the car park so that it will illuminate the toilet facilities area and adjacent walkway.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT the security light be placed at the eastern end of the car park.
