Notices of Requirements for New and Modified Designations

New and Modified Designations

As part of the District Plan Review those organisations responsible for carrying out public works e.g. Ministry of Education, Telecom NZ Ltd, Ministry of Police, Power Co Ltd, can ask Council to continue to show their sites as designated, with or without modification and for additional sites to be designated.

The majority have asked for their designations to continue without modification, however the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Corrections have asked for modifications and Telecom NZ Ltd have asked for modifications and the designation of additional sites.

The details of the new and modified designations are set out in the notes of requirement (above) from each of these organisations.

The notices of requirement and the submissions received on them were heard on 23 November 2011.  Council will be releasing its recommendations on these mid 2012.

The requiring authorities then have 30 working days to advise Council whether they accept or reject its recommendations in whole or in part.

Council then has to notify the submitters of the requiring authorities' decisions and advise them of their appeal rights.
