How to use this plan
There are two volumes in this Long-Term Council Community Plan. Volume One
details the Introduction and Overview, Community Outcomes and Council
Activities. Volume Two details Council’s Policies and Financial Statements.
These volumes are summarised in the Hauraki Community Plan Summary.

| Introduction and Overview | This section contains an introduction from the Mayor and Chief Executive, Council’s Mission Statement, Vision for Hauraki District and the Council’s Customer Charter. It also explains what the Hauraki Community Plan is about and making the links between District well-being and Council activities. |
| Community Outcomes | Hauraki District Community Outcomes and Waikato Regional Community Outcomes are explained. The process of how they were identified and what will happen to them, and how Council will contribute towards achieving them is outlined. Other organisations (key stakeholders) who can also contribute towards achievement of Outcomes are listed. |
| Future Directions | This section provides a snapshot of the District and Council’s planning assumptions for the future. It outlines Council’s future intentions and details projects Council is working on with other government agencies, neighbouring Councils and businesses. The major projects to be undertaken and key general and financial assumptions upon which the financial statements have been prepared are set out. |
| Consultation and Decision-making | This section explains how Council’s is committed to communicating with the Hauraki residents, ratepayers and public and how Council achieves this. It explains Council’s standards for making decisions accountably. |

Council presents five Groups of Activities in the Hauraki Community
Plan. Each Activity Group lists how it contributes towards the
achievement of Community Outcomes, details Council’s plans and provides
a forecast for the next ten years. Changes to its assets and level of service over the medium and long term are explained together with Council measures of each activity’s effectiveness. |
| Appendices | This section includes general information about Council – your elected representatives, Council committee structure and management structure. It also includes supporting information to the Plan including lists of current policies and other plans, by-laws, Legislation, Council assets, Regional Outcomes and Glossary. |
| Volume Two | |
| Additional Consultation | Policies and Plans that are also being consulted on as being part of the Hauraki Community Plan are listed. These include the Youth Policy, Social Impact Assessment for Gambling and Fees and Charges for the Regulatory department. |
| Financial Statement | This section includes all of Council’s Financial Statements for 2006–16 that are required under the Local Government Act 2002including a full schedule of capital works. |
| Funding Statements | Provides financial policies that together make up the Funding Strategies, including Revenue and Financing Policy, Rating Policy and Funding Impact Statement. |
| Hauraki District Council Policies | Provides detailed supporting policies that are required under the Local Government Act 2002. |
