Eastern Waikato Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (Draft)
|
Hauraki, Thames-Coromandel and Matamata-Piako District Councils have been working together to develop a joint Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP). Local Authorities are required to develop a WMMP under the Waste Minimisation Act 2008. The purpose of a WMMP is to outline a Local Authority’s strategy to reduce the amount of waste being put in landfills by enhancing recycling and re-use.
This plan aims to ensure that Council’s continue to deliver efficient
waste services whilst looking after social and environmental well-being. Public Consultation The draft WMMP developed by the 3 Council’s is now available for public consultation and we want to know what you think about this plan. You can view a copy of the draft WMMP and Waste Assessment at Councils offices in Paeroa, Waihi and Ngatea. Each of the three Councils will receive submissions from their own district and any person or organisation can make a submission. Submissions were closed 21 November 2011.
