Stop the clock!
Building and Resource Consent
If you submit a resource or building consent after Thursday 20 December 2018 it may take longer than usual to be processed due to the Christmas/ New Year break.
This is because under the Resource Management Act 1991 and the Building Act 2004, the statutory processing clock stops over Christmas and New Year.
In other words, the period between 20 December 2018 and 10 January 2019 is excluded from the 20 working day time-frame we are required to process consents within.
So if you are thinking about submitting a building or resource consent, it would be a good idea to get in touch with us to discuss your needs and avoid disappointments.
LIM (Land information Memorandum) Requests
There may also be delays in the processing of LIM requests between 25 December 2018 and 15 January 2019.
This is because the period between these dates doesn’t count as working days in accordance with the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.
Any request for a standard LIM must be received by Friday 7 December, in order to be issued before Christmas.
If a request is made after 7 December, you would need to apply for an Urgent LIM. Please note that any Urgent LIM request must be received by Tuesday 18 December 2018.
Note: There is an extra charge for an Urgent LIM
